Armour in TERAFollow

As I was navigating to the forums here, the all but naked woman on the left banner reminded me that I wanted to ask, almost as an aside to the Gaming Girls thread, what you women here think of the absolute impracticality of the armour that women wear in TERA, hot as it may be. Or had you even noticed?

I like it personally. I really like the different styles of armor, I like the designs, and I like that its different for each race.

As far as impracticality...sure, its impractical. Buuuut, its also a fictional game, therefore doesn't *have* to be practical. :) The majority of people I think would rather look good, instead of "being practical". While the "majority" might be male...women can appreciate the female form too, along with revealing clothes. ;P

To be completely honest I base my race choices purely off physical looks, and then armor. In the past I've chosen class the same way, but thats pretty fail seeing as I ended up hating Sorc and wanting to play my usual class (Arhcer/Ranger) in the end. :|

I'm gonna be playing the "sluttiest" looking race, Castanics, and thats mainly because not only do I like their armor more but I loooove playing demon-y sexy toons. :P Both my Archer and Sorcerer will be Castanic, because I love Light and Cloth armor for Castanic females, I think they get the best looking armor in both categories. I also like the fact they don't have monstrous, unrealistic boobs like the High Elves do. As much as the "soft body mechanics" amuse me, I don't like boobs the size of my head. :P

Really more than anything, unrealistic body features irk most. Armor...doesn't bother me at all.

Not a big issue, maybe I'm just used to it, I like aesthetically pleasing outfits over practical/functional realistic armor. But I do prefer fuller coverage outfits with either more elegant style or pretty cuteness rather than skimpy revealing types, although they have their own style and charm at times. Fits some characters/people, not others.

Fair enough so, was just curious. I'm not exactly complaining myself. Smiley: tongue

If you're gonna spend a lot of time looking at something, it might as well be sexy.

QFT.

And I agree with Chime as far as elegant or cute styles go. I happen to like skimpier/badass styles more for the type of races I tend to play though. :D

Well-done races all have their own personality, which is further shown by the type of clothes/armor they wear.

That's an interesting comment, while I initially thought "yeah exactly, like Twi'lek or Drow" (and then thought "man, I'm such a geek") it occurred to me that all class/races in MMOs that I have played and seen so far all share armour types and styles, leaving little room for a race personality to show through - yet some MMO races are still very well done. How would you think that the clothing affects this? Or does it then rely purely on architecture and racial stereotypes?

Also, despite your admin status your posts show as Decent. Is this intentional? Smiley: tongue

Honestly I have no idea how to change that rating. o.O

I think clothing plays a large role, I mean, if you wanted to create an MMO based on our ancient history, with Greeks, Romans, and Ancient Egyptians as playable "races", you wouldn't have them all wearing the same thing. When races all share the same clothing type, it just gets to be like...all the same races with different physical feature options. =/

One thing I liked in AION was you could obtain skins from the other race's armor. So if you were Asmodian you could dress in Elyos attire if you wanted, and vice versa.

Architecture and racial stereotypes can help I guess, but in the end I don't think they attribute much to the race when it comes to playing that race. Racial lore, architecture, and clothing all plays its part. When one part is lacking, it just doesn't seem complete to me.

Maybe I'm just picky due to being a writer...but... Glass Half Full/Half Empty just doesn't do it for me! I like being able to immerse myself in the story of my character's race as well as all the quirks that come along with a race's growth.

clothing definitely reflects on the personality of a character or race imo. I mean, you dress for the type of impression to want to give off in reality too, unless you're just too lazy to or don't care, but that's another issue...

Agreed, though it is sometimes odd when people assume I am a girl because I prefer pretty toons to masculine ones.

I'm also more interested in how the toons look from the back, rather than the front, cuz that's what I'll be looking at most of the time. So over endowed elves don't irk me too much. That being said, I think Castanics have the best options shown in videos as to how they can look, so I will likely play one.

I find the tendency to have pretty much all female characters dress skimpy in a lot of games... offputting. If I ever played Tera I would totally roll a popori - I guess a cute puffball suits my personality more than a slutty demoness... lol

Actually Olorinus the female popori aren't cute little puffballs. Think...furry anime characters. You should check them out :P

On the note of skimpy outfits, eh, I'm a guy so I can't say the look displeases me but I can say after a few hours of playing a toon is a toon is a toon. The look of gear quickly becomes less of a vanity look and more of a badge of progression. It might be me but I'm always analyzing the gear people have around me based on A. the quality and rarity and B. how many other people seem to have the same gear.
