I was wondering what the highest damage class was in lotro?
Rune-keeper or Hunter have the highest single target DPS, while Champions have the highest AoE dps.
But just making a character from one of those classes doesn't guarantee you a seat in the "highest DPS" club!
First you'll need to grow and groom that character, with all the right gear, the ideal combat setup and all the right skills and then you'll need to learn to play that character to take advantage of all his strengths and minimize all his shortcomings.
So you might as well choose a class you really want to play and learn that...

Is there an addon to see this ala WoW (Is there even addons?), or is this seat of the pants answers? Just a curiosity.
I have not seen any kind of DPS meter addon, or a external like ACT for EQ2.
There are two classes that can rip aggro off anything except a top-of-the-line Guardian: Hunter and Rune-keeper. That should be straight-forward enough.

@Bludwyng - The Minstrel class can lay out a whopping between 15-25. If you have the correct pots and food buffs equipped I'd easily be able to see decent DPS. Top 3 DPS in my honest opinion...

Add full-on a war-speech minstrel to that list. Just as bad as a hunter. Probably worse than most RKs. Huge burst damage output makes a lot of hate.

Usually ends with a dead minstrel at least when I have done it. Darn you war speech minus healing buff. My rune keeper seems to stay alive longer when I do something stupid.

I for one hope they never come up with a damage meter for Lotro. They tend to vary widely in the way they parse and in the same raid same players same everything two meters can post different results even from player to player. Unfortunately, folks tend to rely upon them to measure actual player skill too often. I play wow as well since it came out and tbh meters ruined the game imo. My guild is in the top ten in terms of progression on my server I raid regularly successfully while I don't "top" the meters but occasionally, I do respectful dps.
Having said all that I still find the meter mindset one that number 1 means nothing about being a good raider, number two is misleading as you can have the highest dps by just dieing in the fire earlier then your raid mates, number 3 causes more wipes when you have people paying more attention to them then what they should be doing in the encounter.
While everyone works to be a contributing member of a raid team the meter maniacs tend to be those who care more for the rush of beating everyone else rather then actually downing the bosses to those who go further and post "meters" everywhere (of course only the ones they happen to top at the moment) in order to somehow claim superiority.
Lotro for me is an escape from such foolishness and feels more like genuine team oriented playstyle.

Well, I agree, but unfortunately now, a year and a half later, there is one that provides an analysis of the combat log for dps, healing, damage taken, and something else I forget. I hate to even publicize it by giving its name.
EDIT: Editing this to note that you have to give "permission" for your numbers to be shared with the group. The plugin requires you to open a dialog and insert your IP address to share data, so you can just keep the numbers to yourself. Of course, if the raid leader makes it a requirement for the raid then . . .

Lol well that's what I get for not looking at the date of the original post. I only returned to LOTRO a month ago after a 2 year hiatus. Sad to hear that this mindset has reached Middle Earth. Guess I will forgo raiding if as a result the stress and hubris in Wow is mirrored here now. I will just putter around and play exploring and doing what I can solo or in small fellowships.
