I played a while ago, and I have to say that I'm pleased with the new Tutorial system, and the Skill Queue system. It's quite nice.

I just renewed today, and I agree that the skill queue is awesome.

since you just started playing i have a few questions.

this is the first time i am playing and i am downloading the trial as i type this.

is it easy to get started and feel like you are doing something?

will i get attacked by some high level player just so he can be an ******* and pad his stats?

are there many new players just starting or is everyone high level?

is it hard to start out? been reading the wiki and kinda know what i want to do whether or not it will be enjoyable is another story.

thinking on being an industrialist/miner but that is before i log in when i start i might change my mind.

thanks for any advice.

The learning curve is a little tough. I highly suggest doing the tutorial stuff. But after a little bit you kind of get a good idea of how most things work.

There are no levels, just skillbooks. Stay out of low-security space and you should have no problem with anyone attacking you for the hell of it. It wouldn't pad their stats though, it would make them some money if anything.

Again, no levels, if you're looking to be playing WITH people(as in, forming groups and such and not just playing a game that other people are playing) then you should join a good corp when you get the chance.

I'm a soldier. I go around and blow **** up. So mining/industrialism is boring as **** to me, but my co-worker does that and enjoys it. So it's all in what you prefer. Everyone will be different.

Send me a msg in game, and I'll help you out if you're around when I log in. Name is "Serpin Taxxt".

you only get boosted learning speed for a little while, so my advice is to make sure you have learning, and the attribute increasing skills learned up to at least level IV. learning V is definitely a priority, as its a skill that affects the rate at which you learn everything else.

I have the basic int and mem to level 4 and learning level 4 will finish shortly. I must say I am enjoying the game way more than I thought I would. I just joined a corp and they have been very helpful. i kinda wish i would of tried the game a few years ago.

I find there are three very distinct areas of the game. PvP, Industry and Mission Running. Although I mainly PvP, I'm on an industrial alt a lot and that is my main source of ISK.

Basically I stay with and keep coming back to EVE because there's so many different things to do. Even where and how you pvp can be quite different. Lately I've been on an interceptor kick, but I pvp in everything from inties to capital ships.

You'll like want to stick to mission running and maybe mining a bit for your first little while. You -will- get your *** kicked hard in pvp in low sec until you get some skill points under your belt.

pvp is complicated, recently they changed capital ships a bit, specifically, the naglfar, so im having to learn capital shield skills, it means the naglfar goes from one of the weakest ships, to one of the highest dps ships out there (400,000 shields is pretty nice too!) you know how bad its getting when your next skill train is going to take over 50 days to complete!!! i would add, that quite a few pvp'ers do mission running in their 'down time' pvp isnt cheap and mission running does help make ends meet :D

I wish I had that ship...and those skills...

I only recently began trying PVP. Let me say this: Warp Stabilizers do NOT do what they're supposed to when you are fighting someone with a warp disruptor.

Well, for me the NPE (new player experience) was the most complicated thing i've ever encountered in a MMO, although after you get used to it, it becomes something like muscle memory.

Ok, to take a guess... this is from some old EVE forums, perhaps? Because reading through the topic (which is from 2009), I thought it was one of those "generic statements about MMOs that could apply to any game" up until someone mentioned EVE.

Also, Necroposting is bad.

I didn't even look at the timestamps, I just thought it was some kind of brilliant set of chain responses to an ambiguous misspost.
