Seems a new one came out for the DS by Square Enix.

Valkyrie Profile, Covenant of the Plume. Just started playing it, hopefully it'll be fun.

I have been looking for a new game since I beat Chrono Trigger. I think this might be it.

As long as it's not slow as **** like tactics advance or luminous arc. I can't stand when it takes me all of ten seconds to confirm three different pop-ups asking me if I really want to hit the guy.

There's no massive amount of confirmations. But you do enter a "sub" screen when targeting an enemy (Visible through the Battle preview trailer).

So far it seems fairly good. If you've played Spectral Forces 3 for the Xbox360, then you will find the combat familiar.

Close allies can join in, and attack the enemy while you attack. But some attacks move the enemy, eg. hit them up into the air, and if you use an attack from a character that targets a ground enemy on an enemy in the air, it will miss completely. So you have to keep track of what your characters' weapons are capable of.

So far I've played it about 15 minutes (some story and one battle). It is fairly interesting, and if the story continues this way, it will be an unusual role for the main hero of an RPG.

Note: I never played Valkyrie Profile 1 or 2. (PSX and PS2 games).

Valkyrie Profile 1 was definitely a fun little game that went under the radar for a lot of people. Simple and spastic combat was my favorite part of it.
