FAQ
1. What are Wii Numbers and Friend Codes?
A. Wii Numbers are a unique identifier of your Wii console, and they allow you to connect to other Wii consoles for Wii based features. Friend Codes are unique to a game disk you have purchased, and allow you to play online with someone who's Friend Code you know.

2. What can I do with someone if we exchange Wii Numbers?
A. Once you have both added each other's Wii Numbers to your consoles you will be able to send messages via the message board and exchange Miis.

3. What can I do with someone if we exchange Friend Codes?
A. Friend Codes allow you to connect together to play a specific game. Since they are unique to each game you must have the Friend Code of not only the person you want to play with, but also the game you want to play with them as well. You cannot Play Smash against your friend if you only have her Mario Strikers Charged Friend Code. Also note that Friend Codes are based on the Wii console as well. Playing the same game disk on a different console will generate a different Friend Code.

4. Where do I find my Wii Number?
A. Turn your Wii console on. From the main menu select the message board. Then select the new message option. Click on the address book icon and your Wii number will be on the cover page.

5. Where do I find the Friend Code from my game?
A. Friend Codes are found inside the game menu, exactly where they are located differs for each game.

As Vataro informs me you only need a wii number to connect with another brawl player as the game automatically detects other players from your address book with brawl.

That conflicts a bit with this previous Dojo update, but I believe Vataro is correct and the game has been changed. I've also heard this from other players.

I just found something out while trying to test out some online play. There are friend codes for the game.

Mine is as follows: 3480 2210 8061

The lag, from what I've seen is not very noticeable. I noticed that roughly 1 in 3 matches would have some bad frame rates/latency issues at the very beginning of the fight, but they'd go away within 10 seconds of the game starting.

I expect some competition.

I *think* I found a technique similar to wavedashing, it's so easy to do though so I'm guessing it's not like wave dashing or everyone already knows it.

I just know I can slide across the screen real fast

I also found something interesting about Ike, but it's probably common knowledge too. His attack speed may be somewhat slow, but you can do a lot to bolster his movement speed.

I think I did pretty decent, I'll get better with time.

My biggest problem is figuring out which guy I am in matches with more than 2 people. That and I get the jump button and smash button mixed up a lot.

O and the whole using Ike and nobody else thing. I need to work on that too.

I'm not all that great either, I had some good wins - even amazing wins earlier - BUt I still had many, many epic fails.

You have to look at it this way though, if you're playing against 4 people and can win 25% of the time, you're not failing that bad.

Not everyone can be on all the time, which is why I implore everyone to add each other. I've added everyone's brawl code with the exception of Usagi's because it's not a real code.

I encourage everyone to add mine as well.(Vataro & Catt especially, when you find the time)

Additionally if you have tried the "Play with anyone," option and keep getting an error code 85010 don't worry about it too much. This error code is on Nintendo's side and most likely means their servers are overloaded because it is a new and very popular game.

I kept getting a connection error whenever I tried to join Catt or Vataro's games, could this be nintendo's fault also? I successfully played with whaods, rinic, and a few others who I don't think frequent Zam.

After playing a few matches online with Vataro, Ikkian, and Codyy I think a tourney is not really possible. The lag gives the host a quite noticeable advantage. Having a third party host the match and then suicide at the beginning might even it up, but it would still be a laggy match and not really competitive.

I still greatly enjoy playing with you all and am up for a game anytime.
#45 Mar 11 2008 at 8:40 AM Rating: Decent
the lag experienced last night is probably not that typical, and I'd wager the ratio between the number of participants in a match and the distance between them in the real world has a profound effect on lag.

When we played, it seemed as if he lag were universal. If one lagged, all lagged.

I wonder how much of the lag is just a Nintendo bottleneck. I bet it will let up a bit after they add a few more or people quit spamming games online.

I'll add more of you guys later tonight. I played a few online games but I've been too busy unlocking everyone.

The lag is universal. One person lags everyone lags. There is no difference for host/etc.
