I have a few things to say.Follow

It seems that there are two kinds of people in this forum: uninformed newbies and bitter pre-NGE Vets. To the newbies: welcome to the game! No matter what anyone else says, this is a fun game. To the vets: If you hate the game so much, why do you still lurk these message boards, spreading gloom to new players?

NOTE: I'm not a newb. I've played SWG since November 2005, but only created an account on this site recently.

And what about us who have played since 2003, hate the NGE but still plays because we still have hope?

From what I've seen, a minority.

Despite people having problems with the NGE, they are all entitled to say what they want about it. No matter how much i disagree with someone, i respect their right to express their feelings and i will fight for their right to do so.

Many of us have issues against the NGE because even tho how "fun" this system might be, it was a hell of alot more fun and challenging back then. But my problem aint just with the NGE itself, it's the lack of information and service from SOE/LA ever since the Combat Upgrade went live. I still find some parts of the game enjoying, but not very challenging. The glory of the old days were the option to design your own template, mix skills from different professions to create a character that fullfills your needs. Now we are all, sadly, clones running around.

This, I can't argue against. I'be reported at LEAST fifteen bugs in my time, and not a single one has been fixed. But what I'm saying is that these people, while they can think whatever they want, shouldn't be telling newbs that the game sucks. From what I've heard, the game was better back then, but it isnt bad now.

Well, I am brand new to the game. Three days. I have heard some pretty discourging things, but I have made a time and money investment, so I plan on giving it a solid go.

I'm pretty excited about plopping down my Windmill if they ever get done with this testing...

I don't have a problem with vets. I have a problem with vets who hate the game but still for some reason post here.

You don't have to hate, love, or have a game to post in forums. I posted in this forum a long time ago asking questions about the game. I also post in the wow forum because im curious. Maybe those vets that hate the game might want to come back someday. or maybe they like pissing people like you off. idk but hey its a free forum and unless they do something to get banned they are gonna be here for a long long time. i guess what im saying is why should they not post in here? and why do you care. its not like there is to much clutter on these message boards. thats for sure.

Maybe that's why they still post then huh?

Well I hate to be called uninformed but okay. *chuckle*

I am new to the game yes.

And I have to agree about the bitter old vets.
I have some ideas for those who whine about the game:
If you don't like the game, don't play it. Why pay 15 dollars or whatever a month to play a game you hate? It's like kicking yourself in the nuts and then complaining that it hurts. Don't like it, don't play it.

If you've quit the game already why continue to complain? All it does is just generate flame wars and more complaining. If you prefer Wow, then shut up and play WoW.

To the newbies: Don't let the whiners discourage you. Somebody is going to hate on a game no matter what is done to fix it or improve it. If you came in after NGE, ignore the pre-nge people. They're nostalgists with a hard on for 'the good old days'. Enjoy what you can about the game and move on.

I'll be honest.

I can't expect anyone who did not play SWG pre-CU to understand the pain it was to see SWG decline from what most of the community (I am now assuming that feet are determining their will) thought was a game that had potential. Those who hadn't spent two years of their life in pre-CU SWG, I just don't think they can understand what it is to loss all that hard work by the arbitrary decissions of people who don't even play the game (SOE execs).

However, as the second highest post-count... person and one of the only people who has been a regular on these forums since 2003, I think I damn well earned the right to keep on posting where I please :p

I can understand. Really. I've played in RP games where in the beginning it was great; then the higher ups decided... hey they weren't going ot allow this or that! Things declined.

But instead of clinging onto every shred of what once was... I moved on. I found games that suited my needs, I found places to go to talk about it.

Hanging onto something that will never come back again seems too much like clinging to a past you can never regain.

your entitled to your opinion, as are we all. and no one is forcing you to read the negative posts about the game, imo we also have a very good reason for those negative posts.

SOE took a gamble, they wanted lots more subscriptions, it failed badly, but they were the ones who discarded their playerbase, they knew it would happen before they implemented the changes, they just underestimated how many would leave. but they missed their target demographic, because even they didnt seem to be interested.
the current game players represent a minority, and SOE is not interested in minorities, there is every possibility that the current playerbase will again be discarded, one way or another, either through a revamp, or through closure.

because whether you agree or not, SOE will not be satisfied with its current playerbase, they have targets to meet, and their not being met. the only question is whether they will rollback, revamp or close.
and im not sure they can afford to do either of the first 2.

I think LA's roll was something more along the lines of: "SOE execs, we have a big problem with SWG, and you better get your *** together and get us some more subscriptions or we will cancel the deal!" I don't think Lucsa Arts would really be interested in giving specifics of how to make the game as long as it fits their need for people playing (All they do is lisence and publish it). Most of the development decissions are handled by the developer. I think both have their share of the blame: LA for starting the process and SOE for fufilling it.
