An idea on how to make up for the low populationFollow

#1 Jun 29 2005 at 11:55 PM Rating: Decent
I just thought about this, It's hard to say, but eqoa is pretty much going down the toilet (even if it is a great game that is WAAAY under apreciated) i just came back after near a 6 month away time in which i've been playing other mmos...anyways I made a Bard yesterday and it's 13 now, I've found it very hard to find A group now. I guess the upside is that there's less idiots... anyways to my point

What i think would work well is to do this, Cut the servers down to 3. That way there'll be a greater population and all the characters could be transfered... I could elaborate more but I don't really feel it's needed... what do you all think?

I'd hate if they cut the servers. The names would be crazy, and we'd loose out on 24 chars. People would plain hate this because tons would loose their names. Horridly bad idea IMO. If anything, actually convince SOE to make na expansion.

The high-end of the game still seems to be doing well. The lower levels are hard to get groups because everyone HAS been playing for along time. Everyone wants that next cm. When you get to around level 30 you will see a drastic change with grouping. My low level alts hardly ever get groups.

As for joining servers.. bad idea IMO.
All the raid mobs are all still stalked and killed as soon as they pop.
Like someone else said, the names between servers would cause alot of commotion.

I say level up another 10-15 levels and you will see a huge difference.

No, the populations are just fine. The population has just gotten less noobified over time. The reason you may have trublez getting grps at your lowbie stage is because Sappo has added too many high level activities at once. Once, the 60's craze is over, peeps will begin to work on thier lowbies! In fact, this is already begun to happen! When the 60's stuff first came out, with other stuff added too, lowbies were having a very hard time grouping!

In short, the game is rocking more then it ever has! There are just as many players playing as there ever has, despite doomsayers predicting EQoZA doom!

Itz a fact Jack!

Yeah, cutting severs down is a way bad Idea, even though alot of ppl may be playing ther higer lv chars right now, the still do have many alts on the same sever..Which would create ALOT of pizzed off ppl when they logged on and found they had to change there name. Or loot gone cuz the sever is only made to have so many of that item.......
I have recently started playing my alts again, and yes finding a grp at lower lvs is insanely difficult, and getting one to last more than 5 mins is even harder (if its not a PL grp)..which expains alot of the Ploobs running around...
Not only that but useing reg at lower lvs is really hard unless u ran all ur coaches the day u started ur toon. Even the then there are few ppl who acually use it at that lv.
The point is, things will eventually even up again...specally if they put in low lv raid mobs...that ONLY low lvs could do the quest for ;)........

well one reason you might not see that many lower characters is that I have heard they discontinued making new Frontiers CDs.. anyone know if this is true?? if so, then yes, that would hurt the game in the area of attracting new players.. but I'm not even sure if this is true

Even if they did most online stores has a huge stockpile of them.
And most low levels have a high level main and are just playing alts, there anrt very many brand new players.

[Crimson][/Crimson] Yea well................Combineing servers is a very very bad idea, none to meantion people loses there names, ETC, now a days people think of there server as "there" server. I play on mars fist and everyone looks at it as Mars Fist vs CLW..ETC, and if u combine it a bunch a people like that would be spamming FP CLW OWNZ! etc and Mars Ppl would be arguing and it would be comntinue of argueing bc of the servers.........................BBBBBBBAAAAAAADDDDDDDD idea...

i agree on the whole merger thing they would prolly pull plug before they merge. And i work at big gaming fanchise and i can't tell you when the last copy of frontiers has come throught the store. SOE is Prolly just out to milk the folks they have. Who needs new cows when the milk is still flowing well.

Ps. please don't come on the eqoa forum and say anything remotely bad about the life of EQOA folks in here will have a cow and gut you like a fish, i think they prolly take it personal like your talkin bout there family or something. Unfortunately we live in a world where everything has a begining and an ending. and one day the servers will come down...thats right i said it one day the servers will come down(no one can dispute that)....will you be ready...or will you cry in the corner like alittle girl. I image that the ones that will reply to this post in a ill manner will prolly be the little girls in that corner i spoke about.

Peace love and chicken greese

i donno the way some talk on here EQOA is the next best thing since sliced bread. And refuse to believe that the servers will come down(sooner rather than later.

Oh the servers will come down, it will just take a while to do so. Once SOE stops making any effort for the game is when to worry, as long as updates are coming and devs are responding then the game is fine.

I have to dissagree with that. My mage is one yellow from 40, and I decided to open my account for a month and get him to fourty, and if that worked out maybe 60, but I never found a group or any one with in an acceptable level range. So, on Marr's at least, I doubt the group situation would kick up until 50-55, maybe 49 if EG is still big and you have high level friends. The population has gone down, but not as much as it seems to a lower level. Theres just a ton of 60s and not enough lowbies.

of course the servers will go down, but we don't want to talk about it, make mention of it or think about it. EQ is a good game and I like playing it and I don't want to think about it kicking the bucket. Its not of equivelence, but think about your own life, and think to yourself "its gonna end some day.." not many upbeat people do that, it does nothing except remind your own self that the end is un edable (ha I even spelled that wrong). Point being, usually people don't think about the end, it doesn't do anything except bring your spirits down, I think.

Yea I just started a shaman on my wifes account after not playing for about 4 months and, damn, Freeport looked like a ghost town. Took me over an hour to find a group. Its a sad day in Tunaria when a healer can't find a group. I was thinking about ordering a new disc and bringing my bard out but now I dont know. If there is not going to be an expansion and Sony clearly is not promoting the game anymore, it looks to me like its dying a slow death. I think combining the servers is a great idea; they could probably whittle it down to three. The people that are left are hard core old-timers cuz you cant even find the game in my city so there is no influx of new players............sad....

Quick question-- Do they still delete your toon if you haven't logged in for over 3 months? Cuz someone told me they dont anymore.

Basicly when a game is 1/2 way through creation they will start slipping facts of the game.

Magazines internet word of mouth get hype up.

Game gets release schedule and magazines internet t.v will review the game.

Company will do minor to major t.v magazine advertisments for short period of time prior to release.

On occuasion they will hype up the game with pre orders and special gifts at game stores prior to release.

Company will do minor to major advertisment of said game after release to remind people game is out.

Last 2% of company who were working on sales and advertisment forget game exists and move on to next game.

Game is forgotten by company due to new bigger and better games.

The reason why eqoa is not as grand as other mmorpg is the lack of advertisment they have given out in the past. And what little advertisment they did on the game was minor compared to PC mmorpg. Start advertising the game yourself on mmorpg boards let them know the game still exists and is still strong that may be the way to get fresh meat.

True, but why discontinue the game itself? Hell, at least they could have made Frontiers a PS2 "Greatest Hits". I see console games in the store all the time older that EQOA that are still for sale. There is no way we are going to get new players if you cant walk into a store and buy it or if kids dont even know it exists; and if you do want to play it you have to seek it out on the net and order it. I went into a Gamestop not long ago and the guy behind the counter had never heard of it, said it was a pc only game. I had him look it up to see if he could order me a copy and he sez no, its been discontinued. I think EQOA is viewed by Sony as somewhat of a failed experiment in online console gaming. As great a game as it is, there are still too many bugs and glitches that people exploit.

LOL... You totally rock Sing!! Why not tell him how you REALLY feel!? To stay OT, I DO wish SOE wouldn't make it so hard to find a Frontiers disk. As someone said, making it a Greatest Hits is a good idea and would get new players into the game. How hard can that be? I'm tired of being on LFG and soloing for hours.
