XP and CM grinding...Follow

#1 Jun 29 2005 at 12:36 AM Rating: Decent
In the earlier levels, getting to the next level is relitively easy but eventually up in the higher end levels it starts taking a longer time, obvisously, which is not too bad but can sometimes be way to time consuming for your average casual player. But the really bad thing is CM points... after your first 700-800 or so it starts to become extremely time consuming and gets extremely repetitive killing the same monsters over and over again. I find myself creating a new character because i enjoy the quick leveling up and such =D, and because of this i have a 60 rogue who will probably never go burgler unless i get a rose of renewal and relocate all my cms to the requirements for burgler, but if they added somthing to make grinding more entertaining i might just pick up on that rogue again. What do you think would make XP and CM grinding more fun to do? They have already added new mobs and new quest, but hunting around for items for a quest and killing the same mob over again and again to get the item gets annoying after a while, and sadly almost all the quest are this way...

I would love to see something completely new added such as monsters raiding some of the bigger, more populated towns (freeport, highpass hold, Queynos?). The guards would shout that a band of (put monster here) (most likely gnolls or deathfist or orcs or somthing to that effect) are preparing to attack the city in a X amount of time. Then a NPC would start recruiting characters to defend the town. Soon after the monsters would start attacking the town and then all the players would fight back. After a while a Big Bad Monster (like a captain or somthing of that type) will come with another group of the creatures and whatever person/group kills it gets somthing special from its corpse, like a real nice one of a kind ring that is no trade lore. If the town is successfully defended then everyone will get somthing showing that they help defended the town and also get a good amount of xp (which would be determined by there level)

I think this would keep the game interesting and might even make it more fun! Imagine hearing a guard shout that there has been a prison break at queynos prison and all the prisoners are now raiding queynos... soon a bunch of 15-20's would get recruited and go and defend queynos! Then after a while the person who led the prison break will come and try to assist in the raid.

Ohh and im not sure on a great idea of how to make the quest a pass or fail type of thing. Im thinking if the people can kill everything in an alloted amount of time then they succeed and if not then they fail. also there would be level specific raids. like a raid on highpass hold could be the level range of 50-60 and queynos 10-20 and freeport 20-30 and so on and so forth.

Just my two cents...

I would love to hear your ideas on how to make xping and cming much more fun =-)

You should start posting on the official boards for stuff like this. If you do, remember your station name is your EQoA account, it doesn't say that anywhere so I thought I'd say it. They already had a huge dragon randomly spawn by the Freeport coach, they already had Deathfist invade Freeport. I'd like to see the dragon come back, I not once ever seen its loot. That was like 2 years ago though. And no, it was not slag, it was aggro, HUGE, and like a billione people would kill it.

Unfortunately... grinding is grinding. You have to sit in one place for hours if you want that next level or that next cm. It is a very monotonous pain in the *** to grind. Thats why I have sooo many alts. It gets boring looking at the same stuff day in and day out. I have a toon of all levels, besides a 40 something and a 60. I can go do quests that I have never done, grind at a place I havent been to in a long time.
I would like to see the Orc raid on FP again, I never saw the first one. Letting loose a couple dragons would be very cool.

THe orc raid was in early dyas of the game where every1 was low level, if they did now 60s would just spoil the fun.

I think your idea is really interesting, cept there is now way to avoid lower lvs being in a town of high raid mobs, and vice versa. And yes true if it is announced, should be fair warning cept the poor fool who just logged on after the last announcement :P
I remeber the orcs in Fp think my first toon was lv 40ish..pre frontiers, and lowbies would get slaughtered all the time, makes it kinda hard to grind trough those lvs when the camps you need to be in are out of Fp.
I also remeber strange eye ball things spawning in Hp by the coach pre-frontiers that you couldnt con or maybe you could but it had no name, idk.
Yes it would make the game fun again (exp. high lv chars)
If we had something really cool to do, but that is why they made IoD Pre froniters and PoS, PoD, lavastorm..so If you want to push your luck with debt, and great xp if you get the kill, bomb *** drops, and interesting grps........
I would like to see one of the towns get raided again maybe Have a lv 70 RSD drop in the middle of Bw...and watch the 60's Spaz..(lol) But who ever acually came back and fought the mob till the death got a boat load of xp, and a special class related quest to do for a awsome reward...max of one stat increased or something that you couldnt sell or trade.
Ok well that was my two cents :P

Grate, great idea! The mob itself would have 2 be higher than 70 to give a boatload of xp. But when you kill the mob your group who is in area of kill is flagged so a CM stat max raiser opens up, or some CMs in like the racial area to further the depts of a Teir`Dal (or whatever race you are) blood in you! I never seen/herd of the eyeball things. But the Dragon in FP was awesome. Man, Kawayzar was cool, all Felthius does is unjust warns to me and my family. I got in trouble for makeing a eru wiz named Garypanther! and in the mail he practically said one more warn and your f*cked (or otherwise known as banned). If it comes to that though, I will point out some major bogus warns I've recieved, and point out that Felthius didn't mail Decapitater when he was warned, but Decapitator (my bro's char is Decapitater). Was funny when cuz who got the multi-warn read the name. I'd love to see them open up a zone that literally DESTROYS us! Like a zone meant for a later expansion with mobs like level 75-90 or something, just as a teaser. And the mobs be like so hard to kill the only 3 ways to kill one is have like all the EQoAers go there, experience horrific lags, and die a lot, rez back ect, glitch (boo!), or be Felthius.

Felthius sucks sometimes, i got reported when telling a group to stop ksing me and had a mail sent to me saying me i cant claim spawns, I wasnt claiming a spawn my group was pulling it and another group was ksing us everytime and the guy in other group reported me.

Yeah, the orc raid was a little back, YET THE GUARDS WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT IT. Jeez lol.

They (the 60s)probably would spoil the fun, but then they'd come back out of their hiding spot in BW.

Anyway, the idea would probably be shot down by the dev's because then they'd get lowbies sending messages like they got trained or unfairly killed.

No, this would not happen if it was built the way I am thinking about it. I suggest that there would be recruiters, and depending on the mob would depend the level range of characters that can be recruiter. For example my Queynos Prison Breakout raid, the levels would be of the range 10-20. The recruiter would only recruit characters within this range and every other level could not attack or be attacked by the creatures raiding. So that means levels above would not be able to destroy everything and ruin the fun. Another idea i had was that in the same case that the levels above the range could be recruited seperately but would only be a last resort if the lower levels failed killing the creatures before they reach the gate. So in the end i think it would work out. I think it would cause alot of people to continue playing despite the price hike, have more people wanna play the game since it has somthing few other MMROPG's do have and would help the people who only play high level characters want to create new low levels in order to do the lower monster raids... once again i dont know just curious and theres my two cents

BTW I am gonna post this on the EQOA official site forums under the name Faytless, so cross your hopes that the Dev's like the idea too and bring monsters raiding towns back! =-)

TY for your feedback =-)

hehe the edit is to change the text color, cause i could barely read it =P

I like the Idea of the mobs only attacking and being able to be attacked by ppl with the quest, that would make it alot more sufficant in higher lvs not spoling the fun and lower lvs not getting murdered. And indeed it would give ppl a reason to make a new alt. Very interested in seeing what the devs say bout it....should be able to afford it with 3 extra bucks a month from everyone.....

Yeah, grinding in thisgame is quite monotonous, but there isn't much you can do. You could try soloing, although in EQ it's a bit tricky, but, what I always found fun was just exploring! Go to places you haven't been before, if you've been everywhere, try and find a new area! There are plenty.

Yes.. explore..

I was doing some of that last night. Went to LSM for a while just to run around and watch the enchanters with thier imps just destroy stuff.
Went to that Anu cave and killed that Runehoof dude for a piece of my PoS port.
Exploring is some of the funnest stuff to me.
I even got my DH port last night. Yayy.

Smiley: grin

Dam I am bored at work today.

LOL.

Amen, except, I'm usually bored at work everyday =P.

Exploring beats grinding to me anyday, I loved it when I first got the game, and everything was new a fresh.

I even like the "dreaded" 50+ quests. These are some of the most fun I have had in this game. I have only completed one, but have walkthroughs for most of them. They all look to be fun as hell. But I like to do quests though. I guess thats why, after a year, I am not 60 yet. I run around too much.
