i just started playing a couple days ago and i'm now:
marksmen 4/4/4/4 and scout 4/0/1/1. I'm trying to become a bounty hunter. I'm now CL 15.
But I can't seem to be able to beat a lvl 11 creature when i go out hunting. I'd like to buy armor or a better gun, but i can't afford or i don't meet the requirements.
Am i doing something wrong? Why can't i beat creatures 4 lvls beneath me? Why can't I complete missions that are my own level?
Also, to become Novice Bounty Hunter, I need 42,000 combat experience. Is there any easier way to get combat experience? It seem like it's going to take forever if I have to sit there by myself killing level 5's or 6's (the only things i can seem to kill on my own w/o getting beat up badly).

The quickest way to reach your goal is to go to Dantooine Mining Outpost and group up with some higher level players. Double XP is turned on for the rest of the week and it will be twice as fast.
It is a bit harder for lower level players to get into a group since alot of people try to get higher level people to group with them. But once you get into a group that will let you tag along you will level up really fast.
Example: Over last weekend I logged in with my Alt. Toon which was level 16 on Saturday Morning. Template was Scout 4000 and Master Marksman (or something around there). By Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm I was Level 80 with Master Pistoleer, Master BH, and Master Marksman with Carbineer 0300. All skill points were spent. Double XP is a nice thing and Dant MO is a Wonderful Place.
With the CU they made it ridiculously hard to kill something your own level much less 4 levels or so below you. Grouping is a must if you want to level up quickly.

[EDIT] Oh ya, btw, I did use one /respec to swap one branch in Pistoleer over to Investigation in BH (alt toon still on 2 week respec period). Didn't feel like grinding it out for my 4th time.

thanx for the reply. dantooine will be my next destination.
one last question though, why am i having such a hard time hunting by myself. i have no armor and i'm using a CDEF pistol. i can't seem to beat anything unless it's 6 levels under me.

Get a better weapon definitely.
Ya that is just how SOE made it with the Combat "Upgrade". It is pretty much the same deal for all levels. Even when you are level 80 it will seem pretty much the same with solo combat.
Soloing took on a new definition with the CU. Meaning soloing is no longer applicable to leveling up, at least not at quickly. Soloing in SWG is now defined with questing like with Theme Parks and Quests. Leveling up is more a group effort nowadays.

Here's a question I have wondered about for a while now:
How important it my template choice before going jedi? I am master doc and master carbineer with a smattering of combat medic in the left over. I mainly wanted to be a healer who could use a gun.
Once I go jedi, will I be getting my *** handed to me by BHs because I am mostly a healer?
Or will my jedi skills make up for this?

I think a big problem might be that you're lvl 15...and using a lvl 1 pistol.
Use the vendor search on the bazaar terminal. You can browse for any and every pistol, and I'm sure there's one about lvl 14 or so.
