Our Mission Statement:
Purpose
The overarching purpose of the Alliance is to build up the roleplaying community of Dungeons & Dragons Online, which will have the greater effect of creating a better quantity and quality of interaction for all roleplayers there.
Who We Are
We are not a guild, family or house or any other in-game organization. We do not want or seek to replace such organizations, but to enhance the relationships between individuals and organizations that are interested in having fun through roleplaying.
We are a collection of individuals and the groups they may represent, which has gathered in a central location to discuss issues affecting roleplay in Dungeons & Dragons Online in an in-depth manner. This location has been chosen outside of the Turnine & DDO forums, simply because it offers us control of our own community and a wider range of tools to manage the data we will be collecting, storing and sharing with the community.
All who wish to contribute to our purpose are welcome to join us.
Goals
To achieve our purpose, we propose to:
1.) Facilitate casual roleplay between individuals and/or organizations
2.) Facilitate scripted plots and stories between individuals and/or organizations
3.) Hold Alliance events such as plots or parties on a regular basis.
4.) Make it much easier for roleplayers to find and meet each other, both before the game comes out and after
5.) Promote in-game roleplaying organizations such as guilds, houses and families
6.) Help work out conflicts due to RP situations that arise between individuals and/or organizations
7.) Advocate for the needs and desires of the Dungeons & Dragons Online roleplaying community with the game's developers, in particular a server that is officially identified as "Roleplaying" or "Roleplay Preferred"
8.) Work to gather as many roleplayers as possible onto one "unofficial" roleplaying server, if one is not identified for us by the DDO development team
9.) Create an overall environment in-game that is beneficial to RP through maintaining IC in open channels (ex.. say and shout) and being respectful of roleplayers' need for immersion
10.)Create an environment on this site and in-game that is friendly and helpful to new roleplayers and to offer learning opportunities through articles and java chat roleplay sessions.
11.) Promote the understanding of roleplay in-game in order to minimize conflicts between RPers and non-RPers
12.) Create a common ground for DDO roleplayers where respect for each other, rather than rules or requirements, governs our actions
13.) Provide a central site of links and/or articles on roleplaying information and guides in relationship to DDO.
Government
At this time, we don't believe that it's necessary to have officers or formal leadership. Rather, those who want to serve as site administrators and/or contribute content will step forward to help out. Any decisions made by the Alliance will be simply recommendations to the DDO roleplaying community; we do not seek to impose restrictions or requirements on the play time or style of play on any individual or organization. Any and all votes taken on controversial issues will be tallied on a one-vote-per-member basis and our recommendation will be determined by a simple majority.
