You get a free, upgradable ship now days, my novice shipwright can't even make armor/shields/weapons as good as the new version starter ships, given to you, and most loots drop's at lvl 1-3, aren't as good either.

So don't worry about a new ship, till u get some skills at least 1/0/0/0 in pilot.

You can pretty much solo all missions, in all pilot classes till you reach tier 3.

You can't go to a next tier, till you complete all the last,in other words, you have to have 1/1/1/1, before you can go to 2/1/1/1.

Even if you have the xp, you have to Complete a Misssion, before trainer will give you a skill.

Now i've seen 1st tier ships' go as low as 10K or as high as 50k, so any loot you get in space, if it's stats aren't better then what your starter ship has in it, sale it to a Chassis Broker, i made like 200K little over an hour on tier 1, doing destroy missions. So by the time you have the skill, you'll have the creds for it.

My best suggestion, is to get equipment 1st, and not ship as you get your skills, i get 0/1/0/0 1st and so forth, cause i can drop a higher lvl gun "does more dam" and a higher lvl shield "has more protection", at times i've had to strip off my armor, boosters, launchers, chaff's, & etc. Just for a better gun, & better shields, i got to where i could kill 6-8 mobs at a time, with just the higher shields & guns. I would only lose 50-75% of my rear shields, and they reg btw over time, and get all my targets destroyed.

As for what is the best pilot class, lol, thats still under debate, guess it really depends on your preff, and your style of combat.

If you want to fly a ship like the Millennium Falcon "the YT-1300", then privateer.

If you want to fly a Tie Fighter, then imperial.

If you want to fly X-Wing, then rebel.

Now i have a Imperial Pilot on Chilastra server named:

Instigator Shadowwolf
http://swg.allakhazam.com/db/userinfo.html?char_id=28833

And it's been pretty easy to find tier 1 to tier 2 ships, just open map up on planet your on, and go to nearest ship store, i have np's getting ships thus far, although this char isn't tier 3, so not sure where to look for those, yet.
