Hello denizens of SWG,
Ive read the postings of late, Im mostly concerned about the ones over people announcing their departure of the galaxies because of this reason, or that. IMHO...I repeat..IMHO, that is totally and completely your choice isnt it? Yes, I know SWG has tons of 'broken' things, some of witch Ill list here (the ones that frustrate me the most, among others):

-Ive been playing since early June of this year, a few hours a day, everyday (four hours, give or take) Ive NEVER looted anything worthwhile..never. If killed thousands of everything this game has to offer and yet..nada. Ive yet the luck of the uber drop..schematic..weapon..what have ya. Yet the day after the series of publishes recently, the malls seem to be stacked with every new thing available....

-Ever since the economy change (solo group nerf..yada..yada) It seems to be that the rich will stay rich and the poor will stay poor. Only those with millions and gazillions will be able to afford the very best. Example: I saw a player on coronet with one of those uber pikes..you know, the ones that look like something straight out of hell, I asked if it was possible to hook me up with one one way or another..the response was positive, but she wanted 8 million..8 MILLION..unbelievable.

-Jedi..yeah, everyone wants it (well not everyone but its the core of star wars..so deal) and the newer jedi thing has made it 'player friendly'. Ive opened my FS and was stunned to the staggering amount of grinding involved. I suppose its the 'crowd control' by the devs so everyone wouldnt be running around with a lightsaber..ok, I understand that. Accept it even. But its broken to those who dont have an insane amount of time to dedicate to the grind..at my rate of play, Ill be a lowly jedi...oh about this time next year :)

-One more thing about the economy..the push about the solo group nerf was to promote more of a real group atmosphere and to control the economy itself in some aspects. But do you see people grouping to hunt together? I dont, very rarely do you get a group of two or more on a hunt (I remember the days of 20 to 30 people getting together to go hunt some Krayts...what a blast)In my guild, people usually only group to take the noobs out on a light exp run..and thats usually only by the leaders who bring them in. So no groups..and greed, come into play..I.E-broken...

-Jump to Lightspeed: I love flying, love the thought of waxing the asses of anything that moves..but the focus by the devs has shifted there..and its dissapointing..Its cool, Its great..but its a weak attempt to make something old new again, and the 'ground game' has suffered..If I see one more spammer shouting massive upgrades for rediculous prices..Ill hurl..Its insane..

-mmoRPG: I capitalized the last three letters...get it? Let me throw this out..when you shut off you computer, do you get to take you millions to the store? I personally dont know anyone who has taken the profits from dantooine scaley hide to the nearest car dealership to purchase a new ride (If theres a way...OMFG please PM me) So...does anyone really play the game? Im lucky enough to be in a guild that has a few roleplayers and it makes it so much fun.

Theres a few things that grate on me, and thats only IMHO. If you feel the need to flame them, be my guest. but I wrote this to tell the ones who complain about SWG..and whine..and threaten to leave..I love Star Wars..when I login, I live the story, Im a part of a legacy..and this time next year? Ill still be logging in to play my jedi, and search for that uber loot..So, in closing..if you must leave..to move on to WoW, or EQ2 (witch I play also) by all means..dont let the cantina door hit you in the *** on the way out :)

I agree 100%. I play SWG because I am a Star Wars fanatic and have been since 1977 when "A New Hope" came out in theaters. I'm not going anywhere. I love this game and love being in the Star Wars world.

As for your problems you're having in the game, yes I miss the Solo Group money too and the economy will go into a massive depression. But even the rich will run low on cash and eventually things will balance out. The ultimate idea was to balance out the economy as well as get more people to actually group together and hunt rather than people playing so independantly and alone. So yeah we'll have a lot of money problems for a while but hopefully, like the devs wanted, it will balance out eventually.

As for loot, I ran Mokk/Janta solo group missions for weeks and I didn't loot my first crystal until my 3rd week doing Mokk/Janta missions. Since then I have looted quite a number of crystals from Mokks, Jantas and even Tusken Raiders. It does take time though. Once I went to the Agro Pirate Outpost on Dantooine and before it loaded me at the starport I heard combat music. When it finally loaded fully I had 4 pirate corpses laying all around me. Apparently they attacked me as soon as I got there. So I looted them and went on my way. I noticed when I checked my inventory an hour or so later that I had gotten a Blue Rug Adhesive from one of them. It was blind luck but now I go back there every so often just to kill those pirates and see what else I can get from them. As for the new loot (Wanted posters, etc) I hear you get the Wanted Posters from Imperials like Storm Troopers or Imperial Officers. So you'll just have to keep hunting and eventually you will find stuff. Ask around as to what NPC's usually give the best loot.

As for Jedi yeah I hear ya but at the same time Holo Grinding wasn't any easier trying to figure out the secret 5th profession to master I've heard was especially hard. But becoming Jedi is supposed to be a difficult path. "A Jedi must have the deepest comitiment. The most serious mind." ~Master Yoda. I've been playing since July of this year and I have begun the force village grind as well. I can't play every day since I only get to play at work till I upgrade my home PC when tax money comes in around February so I get 5 days per week to play and anywhere from 3 to 7 hours depending. So I understand completely where you're coming from.

And Jump to Lightspeed rawks hard! I love it. I think it definitely added a whole new dimension to SWG to the point that it's almost an entirely new game. Patches will get better and things will even out. It just may take some time.

But like you and I both said, we'll still be here because we enjoy being in the Star Wars world. Star Wars Forever!

/applaud

Hummm....

That my friend was an excellent post. You are so right about everything. I've seen everything that has moved through this game. The great AT-ST wars. The commando nerf. The Endor mission nerf. The Player Cities. The vehicles. The Imperial crackdown. The Jedi revamp. Jump to Lightspeed. And know where are we? Today, we sit upon the eve of what could either break SWG and shatter it like the pricelss lamp dropped from a sky scrapper, or revive. We could make it new. Put it back on top.

At one point, this was the second best selling MMORPG in America, and very high up in the world. I for one want it back up there!

No RPing on Valcyn? Guess you just don't know where to look, cause our guild RPs a WHOLE LOT.

Well, i've now switched to FFXI and am playing it as we speak, but when I used to play SWG it was fun, with full PT's hunting down Tusken warriors in Tatooine. Then everything came crashing down with the buffs (which i still think is the main problem). Since now everybody can solo in that and make million's if they run mokk/janta missions for a month. The game USED to be fun, when you could PT, now everybody is money hungry and FS slot hungry.

I guess you didn't hear about the Solo Group Nerf. There is no more solo group missions where single players earn 30k per Mokk/Janta mission. They made it so everyone gets an equal share of the mission money. If people aren't close to the mission when it's completed then they don't get their money but neither does the person who completes the mission. Making millions in a day is not a part of SWG anymore. Sadly.

SplinterCell your in ISB right? Well i hardly ever see them except for the other night at the Minning op where SEMRA had there medical thingy. And the only one i saw was Raylyyn. It was cool but yes rp is dead on valcyn as far as rebel vs imperial. Yes certain guilds to small events within there guild but thats it. Its not like it was back when lyliw and pash and eohlwyn where hardcore rpers... i miss those days

Yeah, I was sad when Lyliw left. So many good RP events....

I guess not that I think about it, RPing is dying, on almost all servers I've been on, at that. As soon as certain groups start dying away, the masses follow. How long will SWG last is the question now? Let's just hope it is long enough for a sequel!
