Honestly, nothing survives the flame thrower long enough to touch me to melee. lol. But if you insist TK takes the same unarmed branch as Commando. Otherwise you will be tight on skill points. Beforwarned though that if you go TK you probably will just drop Commmando and add Pike to it.

Teras Kasi is the best melee overall character.

You get self wound heal with meditation, insane state combos (dizzy, kd, stun, blind) and sometimes even bleed. The speed as a Master TK is 0.6 no matter what VK you equip and I think it's the fastest profession there is.

I picked TKM as my first profession, sticked with it ever since.

Commando without flame thrower??? that would be like.... a doctor without stim e's!!
Flame thrower is by far the best part of commando, close second is the grenades for combat xp grind.
Tka is i think by far the best option, speed as mentioned is pretty much unrivaled, that is until they get the CU underway...
Meditate and Force of will are just plain kewl, im working on my second toon now and TKM is a must for me!! :)

The Flame Thrower is a slooooow weapon but fortunately you only have to shoot it once. FlameSingle2 does 11K-14K damage most of the time. FlameCone1 does about 8K to each of a group though sometimes it can be tricky to get them in the cone. It also can miss like any other attack. Maybe someday I'll understand how you can miss with a flame thrower at point blank. I guess it's the same as a giant or picket when they duck, lol.

Personally I just group with my TKM buddy. That way they all attack around him and I can kill them with cone. Sure his fur gets a little singed ( he's a bothan ) but isn't that what friends are for?

Commando has the best Special Effects in the game. PointBlankArea1 with my Launcher Pistol and all you see is outlines in smoke and flame. Granted the Launcher Pistol isn't for all since Commando has no skills for it just certification but I'm also a Master Pistoleer so finally Pistoleer skills are good for something. Had hoped Pistol Skills would have been good for Pistoleer but go figure.

Nothing in the game gives as much Combat XP as Grenades and Commandos can use all the best.

Like all other professions it's not for everyone. But if you normally attack things weak to heat or blast then give it a try. I still haven't tired of the flame thrower.

Haven't tried the Acid Rifle or Particle thing yet. Flame Thrower has just been so much fun I always use that when I can.

BTW Since I have Commando and Pistoleer and Commando requires Master Marksman as well I have no skill points left. So I have no melee skills at all and have no problems.

If your goal is the village save those 10 as FS Skills take 1 skill point each and you need to get 24 of them.

Ok, another Newb here. I guess not even considered a Newb since I haven't bought the game. I just wanted to ask the people who have actually played it if you think it is worth buying and spending the $15 a month on as opposed to say Final Fantasy's version?

Haha I'm home on winter break and bored out of my mind and I've thought about buying each of them several times but I don't have the money for both. Anybody played both of these? I've heard FFXI is awesome once you get it on the computer which takes forever. I'm just bored and need something to do and something to pass time when the next semester starts.

Any help you guys can give me is much appreciated!
