Hey, ( I apologize if this topic is already in the forums. I could not find it)
What would you guys think of a government that was actually run by real players? So once you got to Master Politician, you could run for senate, congress, or whatever other position was available. Of course, players would also be the voters. That way we could change the sublte, yet important, issues of inflation, contraban, shuttle/starport times, etc. Personally, I think it would drastically improve the game play and realism. Think of being in Coronet as the Mayor or somehting. If you really wanted to go into it, you could hold live debates, trials, etc. Let me know what you think.

Yes, but that is why players would elect them. They could make their campaign, and we would choose whom we thought best. Plus, we could make the terms only a month or so. Maybe a few months.

You know what's ironic about this? It was Kerry that went duck hunting 2 weeks before the election, lol.

Hey,
Just an example of how the whole SWG player politicians running the government deal could turn out well, look at the whole John Kerrs vs. Bush deal, it turned out quite well :) Now I just hope that Dino Rossi comes out victorious for the Washington state governer. No offense, but Democrats are REALLY sore losers...... Anyway, I think it would be cool to have SWG that way.

Amen! Why can't they just not put the country through living hell again?

Anyways, political talk aside, I always thought this would be cool. And maybe a player run military, with actual ranks and Commanders controling stuff, etc.....

Yea, a player-run military would be awesome also. They could make it a branch off of Squad Leader or something. My hat is off to you SplinterCell.

I think we should be able to rent shop space in all those empty buildings in the major cities, imagine paying 50 creds/hr to own a small store in Bestine/Coronet/Naboo where you can store 100 items and have a vendor there hawking you wares. that way if I was a crafter i dont have to spam day and night "come to my shop at 2345,5678" and then find a empty vendor.

Get off shuttle goto shop, if vendor empty goto shop right next store, easy simple and non-time wasting.

Huuummmm... that is a good idea DVEight!

Anyways, to expand on the player-run military thing, it would be nice if it would be a profession like the JtL Pilot professions, kinda. They would be expanded by faction points, but would require all training to be done by the person exactly one rank above you (NPC trainers could be recruited to player bases?). Some of the profession trees would be like Unit Command (How many units you can have, from a squad to an army!), Tactics (Gives more and more commands that you can assign to troops), and I'm still working on the others.

Anyways, their would be 6 or seven professions, Enlisted men, Non-Commissioned Officers (Allows you to first command men), Specialist (Gives bonuses to certain professions, but can not advance higher with it), Leutinants, Officers, Colonel, Generals, ABOVE AND BEYOND (Things like surface marshals and Moffs).

About the City Shops deal; it would detract from player cities in a way though. Everyone would set up shop in Coronet, and there would be no reason to shop anywhere else, so the politicians might argue against that idea. I however, would benefit from it, as would most people, so it is a win/lose situation. Perhaps they should have billboard type video screens that would advertise peoples businesses. People could pay for a certain amount of time, say 5k for a 30 second ad, and the screen would cycle through all the posted ads over and over. And every week, they would restart, to avoid have too many ads.

Let me know what you think.

I like the idea of bringing a mall into the city. do something with those buildings. Yah im sure player citys would lessen but it would be nice to see a crowded city bustling with commerce and its all right in front of you. Would be nice.

I honestly find player cities a waste of time, If i really want something. I check the trade forums. I don't bother travelling to some out of the way player city to find what I'm looking for? If i want Brandy I buy it from someone in my guild, the same as New chasis's, or armour/weapons. Does anyone really go to some player cities cantina. No they go to Bestine/Coronet/Naboo to heal there Mind wounds. I think the game would run much smoother if they did away with player cities all together. Whats the difference of a bunch of house coupled together or spreed out.

Yes, some player cities are a waste of time, but there are a few, such as Shadow Land, Dantooine, on the Shadowfire Galaxy, ans Mos Vegas, Tatooine, that I find quite helpful. Say you want to buy somethings that just so happens to be worth more than 6k, where are you going to shop for it? The Bazaar? Nope, nothing more than 6k there. NPC vendors? Sorry, they only sell ship chassis and whatnot. The only other place to go( aside from going out and hoping you loot whatever it is you need from some Tuskens ) is player city that has vendors. So player cities do have their uses. In addition to having vendors, they allow us to save alot of time by using their shuttle ports instead of having to ride our speeders everywhere we go.

Regards,
