I just started this game...I LOVE IT!!!!
But when I startd my character, in my inventory was a locked container. It says that it is locked with a magnectic seal. For access I will need the key or I'll need to slice the locking system. HUH? Can someone please explain what this thing is? Please...please...please...

Locked containers are used by the smuggler profession to raise their slicing skill. A smuggler with slicing can unlock it for you. You may see people shouting at starports that they are slicing locked containers for free and you keep the contents, these are smugglers trying to gain xp in slicing.
You may find smugglers paying you for the chance to unlock your container and you still get to keep what is in it. I've seen smugglers offering 5k or so to unlock your container.
There will be some things inside, but mostly it will be just junk items like basic weapons or ONE unit of a resource.
So, if you aren't planning on being a smuggler, Id suggest just selling it on the bazaar for about 3k or offering it to a smuggler to open for you. Once its unlocked and you have retrieved the item the container is useless, destroy it or put it in your house as decoration.

I sliced 3 containers for a guy today, and 2 of them completely dissapeared! I had just convinced the guy I was honest, then I have to tell him I "lost" his containers. Anyone have this happen?
No but that would really suck.
PLease people, if a smuggler can slice equipment, he's not gonna walk around with the FENCE tag. Ask the right frickin people already (Master, Slicer) and stop acting like any random smuggler you see owes you something. They dont.

Hey Jerok! Yep! I'm from Albuquerque alright! Sorry about the late reply, I've been on the road and just got back from Los Angeles. How long have you been playing this game? Oh yeah...By the way thanks for the help from all you fellers on that container. :)
