*NEED HELP* Finding HolosFollow

#1 Feb 09 2004 at 4:57 PM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know what quests and/or places I can find holocrons at?

I highly discourage you to walk the path of jedi because as soon as the expansion comes out, all your hard work will be screwed. And holos will then be with 0, zip, nada, the big goose egg.

honestly the only place i have found any holos is the weapons facility on naboo, it is on you poi tab. you can get them in other places but you will likely need a good group for that.

Northwest corner of the planet. In the mountains near the rebel base. Go witha ranger and track them. You can solo those types. They either come in pairs or singles. When you kill them, they pop 3 more times in that area and then move to another location (reason for Ranger). Just get a good CH pet and some pet stims. The force monsters are all over that place. Either that, or you can enter the force cave but thats usually mobbed with AT-ST's and tons of people. Plus its really really hard. you get about 1 holo every 100 kills. Good Luck, they revamped those guys to make them stronger. Dantooine, Northwest corner, Mountains. Don't get killed.

I got my Jedi in a little over two months. If someone wants to play alot and they get lucky like i did with professions. They just might be able to get their Jedi before the change. The change from profession based system to a quest one is still pretty far away. Couple months at least. From what i have read at least.

A QUEST BASED SYSTEM!?!?!

oh what?! Does this mean that the only way to get stronger is to do quests. That is rubbish!

I've heard that Ewok eldars sometimes drop holocrons.

I've seen a lot of people who didn't really read the stuff, or heard about it through others, so here's what I've gotten from reading all the threads and announcements I've seen:

1.) The new system will have something to do with quests

to me this is a great thing, I"m getting sick and tired of finding 90% of people in the support professions (crafters, entertainers, medics) are all just there to get through the tree and move on. Usually that means they are useless to the community. Example, weaponsmiths that turn out a dozen terrible scout pistols then post them on the bazaar, for large fees no less. This was destroying the community. The game relies on players to support eachother in their professions, and hopefully now people will just play the professions they like (and maybe some will try new things *gasp*)

2.) There will be a reimbursement setup implemented

for all of you who have come out angry and shouting when they heard the system would be changed, thinking you would lose all the progress you made, get your info straight first. And its not our fault, or SOE's that you decided to waste your time (not-)playing and grinding until you were blue in the face.

3.) The Jedi revamp is probably going to take months at least to implement

so, all of those who are certain the new system will force you to start all over, don't worry, you probably have time to bumble your way through the remaining requirements you can set in stone (people still don't seem to pay attention to the fact that there is almost certainly more to it than mastering professions)

As far as holo's go, we don't know how they will translate. I would actually be a little surprised if they became a useless relic. But we'll have to see how that shapes up, won't we?

=)

There is no evidence that the DEVs plan to do away with Holocrons. In Fact there is some evidence that they do plan to change the coding so that when you open one it gives you the location of your next set of quests. This may in fact increase the value of Holos. The current holos tell you which of 30 some professions to master. The new ones would now show you which quest of hundreds to do.

Just a side note. It is a whole lot easier to add quests to the game than it is to add professions. Quests can bee added without player knowledge. It's pretty hard to hide a profession

There also seems to be a lot of talk that the profession grind is totally going away. Just because they are going to a quest based system does not by default suggest that these quests will not be based on mastering certain professions. Takes some of the dull out of the grind and might actually force those grinding a profession to learn it instead of just macroing it to death. Not sure if it will work that way but, no statements that would preempt that idea.

Never grinded a proff myself but pl tell me, how do you "learn" master dancer, for example?

Yea hardcore holo grinders are not peoples favorite bunch. There such frickin XP whores they do not care who they annoy. All that matters is their stupid virtual jedi in their head they wack off to every night. When in town they're constantly spewing out spam usually demanding random people to progress there char in some way. They care about nothing at all except becoming jedi. Who they offend does not matter to them.

If they join a hunting group they tend to ridecoatails, and if things get ugly are the first to run. They command other groupies and expect full cooperation yet their combat skills tend to be very poor as they don't know how to use them well with all their stupid afk macros they mastered all there combat profs with, they dont really no what to do with any of their skills or even have them ready to use in the first place.

If your out in the wild soloing they run up and just start killing whatever it is your killing. You can swear at them all you want they're total mutes and do not respond to any thing. They just keep kill stealing whatever your fighting as its extra and ez XP to them. They're just a bunch of l337 d00d idiots that got tired of begging for sojs and rushes in diablo2. There the scumbags/teabaggers of mmogs IMO. I

Not saying everyone who became jedi acted like this. Just probably like 98%

Part 2=P

Ugh.. So EVERYTHING quest based? All japanese style? Gah. I hope not. The only macro I do use is one that repeats /forage like 8 times in a row. Then I have to click it again to get it to start. I guess if I knew how I probably would macro too. But I dont. What I'm trying to say is, I actaully enjoy every battle., Thats what I play for, the animations of my char while he's battling. Thats all I really care about. So combat was never a grind to me, except brawling XP for smug, actually that I did feel like I was grinding for. But thats just all part of SOE games. People should just expect that by now and stop crusading to change it.

The best is hearing that dark tune- Doo da- Doooooo! when it says you know qualify for skill at top of screen. Hearing that little tune after hours of grinding is worth the 50 or 15 or however much got paid for game. God I love that sound.
#17 Feb 11 2004 at 5:40 PM Rating: Decent
Amen, that sound is great, almost as good as the startup window music when I get home from work and start to run SWG. That excites me every time.

Please SWG kill the grinding trend!!! I hope this will end soon because you just have a bunch of people playing class they don't want to play. They add very little to the game. When the game first started people were very happy to play their masters!!! Now you cannot find a good stocked vendor. I really do think SWG did hurt the game by setting up a system like that. I really enjoyed the game at the start because people were playing professions they wanted to play. Now it's like a black void. I wont jump through a bunch of hoops for SWG just so they get their
