Rifleman Tips & TacticsFollow

#1 Feb 09 2004 at 10:29 AM Rating: Decent
Hello, I would like some advice or pointers on this career. First off I am almost tk master / ch master and I kind of want some long range weapons especially something like this to do krayt hunting and other tough mobs solo. Here is my 3 part question.

1: Which Rifle should I use once I have Novice Rifleman? (I only ask because I still see people with Laser Rifles even when they have good Rifleman skills)

2: Which Mobs/Planets should I go to get good xp? (I can go just about anywhere so throw in some tuffies)

3: Last any tips and tactics for making this a smooth ride or just anything extra you want to chip in? (or any other profession to mix well with Rifleman, I can always drop some ch.)

This is hopefully a usefull thread for others out there who want to be Rifleman. Thanks in advance fellas.

alright I don't really know a whole lot about rifleman yet, however before shooting go into prone position, it will allow you a few extra shots without being spotted. Uhmm other than that I'd suggest getting mind shots asap along w/ any dots you can, they help (go w/ mind cause it's the only thing that can't be healed w/ medpacs) that's all the advice I can really give to ya, as I said I haven't played the class yet.

To take this thread one step further, what do people think of Master TK/Master CH. I'm at master CH myself, and almost to master TK. CH was great for PVE while leveling TKA, but now it seems like the skill point requirements to keep it (I think it's around 103?) are so high I should give it up for something else.

Do pets have much of a place in PVP (I haven't lived through any) or are they dispatched fairly easily?

Funny I'm replying to my own thread. Anyways If you read my post I'm a tk/ch and I'll tell you my experiance in this class. It's great on pve/pvp cause not only can you pull some great pets you can put them on guard/attack anyone or anything you see. With tk you can handle just about anyone but you need some ranged tactic, thats why I am inquring on rifleman. Oh only downside don't get killed your pets become useless.

So anyone answer my post with a good serious answer please do so, I need the info. Thanks

I mastered Marksman and my choice weapon is the rifle- I tend to switch for upclose encounters but do go to the prone position or kneel when sniping. IF you acquire a scouting skill- there IS masked scent which does wonders for hunting prey. Some tips on sniping- double check your weapons IDEAL range for max damage potential and make it as close as possible to the ideal range.

I cannot help as to which weapon to use- for rifle..ask around online- as I stopped at Master Marksman and thus am limited to better weapons. - I just think you might wanna acquire some Scout skills as they are the best hunters out there with traps, mask scent and..of course getting the raw materials.

Good Luck

A strange, disembodied voice once said to me to try to master the rifle...
And so I gave up a buttload of pistoleer experience to follow the Holochase. As a Master Droid Engineer, I didn't want to give up Master Artisan because I would have to buy my electronics. But the rifle cost me any combat proficiency I had at all. Not good for a lonely fish in a big galaxy. Only until recently, since attaining Novice Rifleman and Sniping IV do I feel that the change is worthwhile. 1st off, you trade the speed of firing for damage. I use both a Laser Rifle and a T21. The Laser rifle gives me damage up to 363/shot at a speed of 4.9. The T 21 (certification with Novice Rifleman) gives me damage of 489/shot with a trade-off in speed of 5.7 (as well as heavy armor piercing--WOOT!). With the varoius head shots and Mind Shot (which causes bleeding damage) even as a Novice Rifleman I could hit in upwards of 1600-1800 per shot with the T 21. If you pursue Rifles, try getting the Sniping tree first, as it will increase your aiming, range and damage as well as let you db an incapped opponent from long range (exclusive to Rifles). Another hint would to be to invest in a spraystick (cert. in the Marksman-rifles 3, I think) and put it up on your overhead funtion keys as this is the only decent rifle that allows you to fight an oponent that has run up on you at close range. A simple keystroke allows you to change weapons and dole out the butt-whuppins. It took a while to gain any proficincy at them, but they are worth the time invested and the wait.

Hey bro I only ever went to novice rifleman but I loved the headshots they are killer.

As for the CH question I am alittle torn there. My advice too you is decide if you want to be really strong at PVP or PVE. Ch creatures are fairly easy to dispatch in PVP on the other hand it depends on your opponent. I have seen one person beat me, my lv 20 faction pet, and two grauls all inside of 1 minute lol.

I have been in other PVP fights where even after I go down the pets finish them off for ya. It is a iffy question with many people probably on both sides of the fence.

I myself am giving it up because as a wookie I have 0 armor and want to pursue DOC as buffs seem to be the only way I can be a force to be reckoned with.

So in short CH is great but comes down to the opponent your fighting in PVP, in PVE however they make a huge difference as the mobs tend to take your pets out before you. By the time two grauls are dying you know if you should be running or not.

1. When I got novice rifleman I continued to use my Laser rifle, unless the critter I was hunting had heavy armor and high resists such as Rancors, and I would then get out my T21. It all depends on what kind of resists and vulnerabilities certain critters have.

2. Basically once you get so far I would just go to places like Dath, Dant, Endor or Yavin. I highly reccomend going to Dantooine though if your planning on going solo. The main reason for this is because the monsters are less agressive on Dantooine, such as Pikets.

3. From what I have come to understand, having Ranger helps out with the Riflemans cover abilites. Also if you havent allready figured out mask scent is quite helpful as well.

Being CH helps out quite a bit considering, Rifleman have alot slower attacks, so you allready have an edge as far as being able to take bigger critters while grinding rifle xp. If you diddnt have CH, (like me when I was doing Rifleman), I had the ranged support tree, and so I would use Warning Shot quite a bit to keep the critters from getting too close. So I would usually bleed the critter once, then hit em with my most powerful headshot, then hit em with warning shot. I would alternate that until I had killed the critter....

But in my opinion as long as you keep CH, at least for the beginning lvls of Rifleman, you shouldnt have too much trouble at all.

Can healthshot2 and mindshot1 stack or can there only be one bleed going at a time?

I think that a person can only apply one bleed at a time...You will have to try it and find out.

You can have one of each DOT

One fire, one posion, one health bleed, one mind bleeed, one action bleed.

However, you cannot 3 mind bleeds on something.
