BRANCHESROOTS
My proposition is not a far jump for SOE to make and with the expansion and addition of future professions, it is dearly needed. Break the skill tree so that it is no longer made up of branches but of roots. Take novice and break it into four seperate skills. Don't make the player have to pay 15 skill points for the entire marksman profession only to use the pistol, or the entire entertainment profession to only be a dancer or musicain.
All of the Roots parts would still be necessary for a Mastery, and the Devs could even through in incentives to obtain all of the novice skills in a singular profession.
What this would allow is for a more diverse universe and the freeing up of some much needed skill points, especially if/when they go and add several new professions. Fewer people would have to lose a total profession to follow a new path up another Skill Tree.
This would make fewer people upset when they have worked so hard to become what they are, but still want to have new experiences. Yes if a master of more then one profession wanted to experience yet another profession he or she would probably still have to give up their mastery, but because the novice skills although related are not attached to one another the person could chose to give up singular roots of the skill tree with out scraping the hole thing alltogether.
