After playing online games since 1996 (I think that is when I started playing the Realm), I have come the the conclusion that they are about all the same. I am now bored with all of them and as a result I will be not playing them anymore until something really revolutionary comes along.

No matter how you change the era of the game or the underlying story line, they all seem to me to pretty much come down to one thing. Some sort of experience grind.

It might be to gain a new skill or a level but it is still an experience grind. You might have to kill a mob to do it or built the same item over and over but still it is a grind. Even if you just sit in a med center and heal it is still just another form of grinding.

My real interest is in adventure gameing, Gabriel Knight being one of my favorites. If a developer found a way to combine an RPG and have quests that are more like small adventure games then I would be willing to give that kind of game a try. If I could advance by doing a mission or quest that had a deep story line in tune with the main games underlying story line what a great game that would be.

Do I think this type of game is possible. Probably not or at least I do not think that there would be enough gamers that would like this to make it worth developing. I would hope I am wrong in this.

My leaving online MMORPG games does not mean that I will not keep up with the forums. I appreciate those that have been supportive of my posts over many months. I hope you all enjoy your online environment. For me it is back to Dark Fall to get my wits scared out of me. LOL

i agree with you tomall sage. Ignore the ignorance posted above me . I 100% agree with you.

Some people like in depth missions some people dont. One guy on this forum told me he like the way missions are just like , go kill a man come back repeat because it is simple.
Me personally i like a mixture short quest for fun with friends. A Long quest to quinch my thrist for a sense of realism. I really enjoyed doing act 3 it was a large quest ,the warren and both theme park missions.I wish there where more missions like that. Where instead of shooting a flag you have to loot something , set a self destruct, free prisioners , save a mans daughter from fort tusken.

I spend most of my time at fort tusken in a none stop grind. I would prefer if they gave a me a reason for being there expect grinding. The best example of a game like this is Baldurs Gate 2 that game was amazing , the online was even okay if you have r/l friends to play it with. None of the new ones are any good though .Never winter Nights was a huge let down so was knights of the old republic. Baldurs gate almost felt real and unlike with swg i was not constantly looking at my skill monitor for my next level, i just enjoyed the game.

but how you feel about mmorg game is how i feel about first person shoot'em ups . When it comes down to it they are all the same. you may off justed played them to much and need to play another game type. i completed quake 3 on nightmare the day i got it . i got banned from alot of cs servers for cheating (when i wasnt). And Jedi Academy well i completed that game without using force or saber on hard.

Morrowind is a good game. It's first person, but the story line depends on your actions...you can interact with all the npc's.
