good and evil chars - don't fuc*in' group!!!Follow

#1 Jan 27 2004 at 8:47 AM Rating: Sub-Default
hello everybody!

i just want to say, that i find it really appalling seeing good chars grouping with evil ones. i mean, i see so many shadowknights running around with paladins, delfs grouping with elfs, dwarves with trolls and so on...
those people should be playin diablo2 if they just wanna lvl, but playing a real roleplaying game means to freakin play one's role. trolls hate good races, as do the delfs. paladins should be lookin down on shadowknights, and not help them with quests.
what is your opinion. do u stick with ur role? maybe this is just the case on europe's servers, for most people there are still noobs, but this can't really be it...

would be nice to read what u're thinking about this....

so long

on the american servers people grp with whatever race.

i was with a delf rge, delf nec and a elf clr the other day lol

people dont really thing about thier race too much, they focus mostly on being with thier buds and the people they know regardless of being good or evil

so i guess, we arent playing our role very accurate........

indeed, it would be a better world to play. Actually came across some elves on a hunt with my ogre sk, and they ran screaming look out ogres, it was a blast! more of that would be great.

I must say my all evel guild Fear Factory plays this way, in fact look out good races, we may be coming to your town?
#4REDACTED, Posted: Jan 27 2004 at 10:48 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Itz not the fault of the players. Itz SOE fault for making the game that way. Race means nothing between players only has value when doing coachs and quests.

I agree it would be a great addition if faction applied to PC's as well as NPC's. It would broaden the scope of grping, cuz you couldn't juz scan the lvls down the who list, you'd have to apply race and class to group equation. But having said that, juz like with npc's and towns you should be able to raise(or lower) fac with the pc's as well. Would be cool. My guild is the deadly alliance about 40% evil 40% good 20% Neutral so that would be tricky to work through-but a good point it is

I agree, good versus evil would be nice and it would definetly add to the lore of the game however, think about how hard it would be to find a group. do you just group with evil characters? if so, does it take a while to get a group? i know it would, hell it takes forever to get a group the way it is now..lol.

Its only usefull to hunt with good or evil people only, when you can PK them. I say make a PVP-server ASAP and everybody will be happy.

well of course it is a game, and i don't freak out when i see g & e chars in a group. but it would be far more interesting to play such a type of game, when everybody plays his role. when i'm playing a troll, i don't want to be greeted by paladins, for they should either leave me alone, flee, or tell me that i stink like a **** that hasn't been washed for a year. in my opinion it would make the game more a roleplaying game, for to me this type of game is not definated through raising one's lvl or collecting valuable stuff.

If the game was more role-playing they would have to change it so could solo a lot easier. Because if they didnt it would take so long to get an all evil or all good group that we would only have lvl 40s

Yo I definatly think we should play our roles as dark Vs. good players. The problem with that is grouping. At times there just isn't enough people on and it's true that it can take easily a half hour or so before even putting togeather a balanced group. My guild on the other hand is all dark players and even though we group with "goodies," we still do not allow them in our guild.
So anything more then that would be difficult ..... untill we get PvP.
(And I also hate the fact that Elf Players are white faced to me ... I mean come on I'm a DElf!!!)

I agree that playing a role would be fun, but it would be very difficult to get a group...And especially if you are playing off hours like I do...I cant imagine telling my trolly friend "Um I am sorry but you're just too evil for me" lol I group with whoever is available...but I have also noticed that it doesnt stop anyone from being in their character...My troll friend still struts his troll stuff and grunts and wants to "Bash Gud" lol I played with a cleric last night that showed off her evil sexy gear..lol I think it makes no difference in grouping..I sitll have a blast!! But in a perfect world...I guess it would be nice...

Dude I understand your point that if it were more realistic good and evil chars would not group together, but man it's hard enough to find a group as it is. I don't care if my barb gets an invite from a troll and a couple of dark elves, as long as they do their jobs, healer keeps the numbers flying over my head man I'm in! There has been a few nights when I was real tired when I was trying to talk npc's into going out xp'ing, even tried bribing them.

Peace out, GL

well, nothin to say against grouping with your trolly friend, if he's really u'r friend. as we see in lotr, interracial friendships are possible also in fantasy worlds.
what i actually meant was, and maybe i did express myself not to clearly, that i'd just like to see a little bit, a tiny winy bit of role-playing in this game. i'm playing a troll, and all those people, whom i've never met before, r so nice. barbarians asking me if i need a new pieve of armor. elfs bowing low in fronta me. i mean, nothing against nice players. they are really a bless for the game, but shouldn't elves f.e. be terrified at first when a huge and, in their eyes, ugly troll crosses their way. i think they should start a conversation like: "hey what's a troll doing in an area like this? u smell like a baby-butt." the troll could just answer "we don't have clean water at grobb, not my fault."
or: "oh my god, don't eat me, i hope you've had breakfast today!" t's answer:" don't be afraid, paladin, i don't like human meat...". u know, sth smart. not just this all the time friendly questions and answers. i think thats boring. what r evil classes good for then? it's just harder to get arround in norrath. no, good & evil have to quarrel. of course, u could be a friendly delf, helping out everybody. but i think this takes a lotta sense outta the game. if u had a nice conversation as an evil class/race with a good one. no prob. maybe u 2 were running the same errand, and helped each other out. add him/her to your friendslist, and play with him u like to. but being nicely talked to by a good stranger (when u yourself r evil), just doesn't fit into the game. now that's just my opinion. don't blame me on that. have fun the way u like to.
concernig the "finding a group" prob: well there are actually, at least i guess so, much less people playing eqoa in europe than in north america. and most times it'S easy to meet people in good or evil only cities. look for groups in neriak or grobb only. i'm sure u'll find some players. also, there are enough human nekros in freeport. so finding an all evil or all good group, is not as tough as u guys claim it to be.

Umm... I have sat for over an hour straight looking for a group (no I don't just sit there, I have two tv's, so I'm watching something and shouting LFG every couple mins). If you think I'm going to wait for a long time, even 5, 10, 15 mins, then get and invite and say sorry, I don't group with trolls, lol, umm... no. Maybe it's different on your server and groups are easy to find, if so your lucky.

One more point I'd like to make, again maybe on your server it's different. But on our server, there are a lot of people who can't get along as it is, people of the same alignment, classes whatever. There's people who start shiit, just for the sake of starting shiit, or because someone won't give them a sow, rez, or whatever immediately. To say that people who act friendly towards a char of another alignment? You've got to be out of your mind. That's all we need is for every good player to tell every bad player they stink. Again I'm not flaming you, ideally that would be cool, but I'm telling you it's asking for trouble. I can just see it, I'm xp'ing (maybe with an all good group) choo choo, trained, dead... Happened to get the trolls name and in tell, I ask WTF? He says your groupie told me I stink. Bad idea.

GL to you though, and if you choose to play that way it's up to you, if you have more fun that way, that's cool.

well maybe some of u still mizundastand me. when i say, tell trolls that they stínk, i don'T mean u should run arround and offend any evil char u see. again, just an example: i'm in fp with my troll shaman, and a barbarian would come over to me, saying hello or whatever, i would greet him too. but not the way i would greet an evil char. f.e. to nekros i'd say:"hello, mighty nekro from neriak!" all the barbarian would get was a short:" grrm hrrm hello".
i would ask, why he was talkin to me. "you're good, i'm evil. what does you want?" (i know about third person "s", it'S just, i'm making grammar mistakes intentionally when playing my troll). if it comes to the point, that i have to say, that i actually h8 barbarians, i would start saying bad things about his size f.e.. but when i do so, i do it with a smily at the end. this is to make clear, that i don't hate him as a player, but that i play my role as a troll. i've met a paladin once outside of grobb. the conversation was like "what du u want in our town, no good place for paladins." "i'm exploring the world" was the answer. seconds later a troll basher came along the way, and the paladin fled in terror (for he was 30 or sth). i shouted, that i've warned him, but that he wouldn't listen. another few seconds later, i couldn't see him on the who list any more :).
now these are the scenes of which i think make this game worth playing. i'm not trying to hurt anyone, or to offend anyone. i just try to make clear, that i as a troll don't want to help good chars (who haven't helped me). now that is why i chose an evil race. if sby good helped me out, i'll help him out too. but if i don't know the elf, he can't expect me to be too friendly with him.

PS: why is my rating so low? do u think its stupid what i'm posting here? do u think it is wrong, what i say here?

edit: now my rating is again at 3.00. what does this actually mean and how can i influence it, if i can?

umm... yes, imo, u are wrong, but that is just imo. u can play your char's anyway u want. but when u make the subject of your post "don't fuc*in' group" u are being little high and mighty, and vulgar 2. u play your char's your way, i'll play mine, my way. i'll fuc*in' group with whoever i want.
#19 Jan 30 2004 at 11:31 PM Rating: Decent
alright i just read the scholar thread, and some things are now a bit clearer to me. i would change the thread's subject into "....-please don't group" if i could. everybody, please don't feel too offended by me.
of course everybody can play his char his own way. i just meant to say how i play mine and that, and this is just my opinion, if everybody played this way, it would be more exciting and interesting.
no question, of course it is up to u, how u play the game u'r paying for.
anyway it was a proposition, and i said, that i wanted to hear ur opinions.

heres some news buddy! eqoa isnt a real roleplaying game if you want roleplaying move up to the PC version (real everquest) this is just another hack and slash group adventure platform with a few roleplaying elements but not a real roleplaying game, also the PC version has a server dedicated to Roleplaying (good cant play with bad without xp penalty)!!! and deity/class and group pvp servers (and Rallos Zek free for all pvp) lol happy hunting

Cann I totally understand what you are saying...and it would be fun....but I do think the role playing happens more on a intimate level (for lack of better wording) than that of a generalized one...the troll friend I was talking about and this necro friend of mine always razz each other...and we kinda get into the light-hearted bantering of who stinks and what an ugly troll/delf they are...so I do think the role playing is there...just not visually seen...

But I agree it is fun to get into it...I grouped once with two friends and we all three made trolls together ( I know trolls again lol) But I cant remember laughing as hard as my many intelligent conversations consisting of things like "me bash me bash gud" and not much else for content...lol

Its fun when light-hearted...and I do enjoy the times that people play along..and really if you just start the atmosphere of it all by playing in your character..I think some will catch on and enjoy it too...so keep it up=0)
