Crack down on Macro!!Follow

I hate to be the one to say it, but I am not real happy about the AFK macro-ers. I mean one of the things that I thought was attractive about SWG, when I started was that you could macro. But is it really worth the Lag if it isgoing to hamper the play of all other PC's entering the area. I mean I can't barely even walk by the Cantina in Corellia anymore. If I need to be healed of battle fatigue I have to stand outside and target someone when the door opens, or take the better part of an hour walkiong through just to heal a few points of fatigue. Simply put If you are going to macro dance or play music get scout novice and camp making skills then go out where you won't lag anyone and dance or sing or whatever it is that you do to get Entertainer. So what if it takes a little longer it's not like you AFKers at the keyboard watching the entertainment points role in. If you are then I assure you you have attained a whole new level of saddness.

Macro, build up your character, I want you to have the best, biggest, and brightest whatever profession out there, just don't lag me out to do it, have some ever loven consideration.

I guarentee that if players continue to load macros and AFk for hundreds of hours at the cost of game play the nerf loving devs will eventually crack down and further limit the already restricitve macroing system.

I cant aggre more with you man, I use a macro although its not for AFK anything, macros do help but I would rather have fun playing the game then not even being in the room. My opinion they should make a disconect anyones connection to SWG after 5 minutess of being AFK while using a macro... or somthing along those lines....

There is one good thing about all those AFK entertainers. I have a char that I decided to make a Master Entertainer. In doing so I never went AFK macro in a cantina. This meant I would generally be the band leader because everyone else in the group would go AFK. This allowed me to interact with customers on my own and rake in all the tips and make a lot of friends that I now hunt with regularly. I have recieved 50k tips just for being dedicated to no AFK as well as free houses, clothes etc.

So, for those who don't like AFK entertainers, just remember that when you walk into a cantina and one of them greets you, smiles at you or basically is letting you know they at least are not AFK, please give them your attention and tip accordingly :) Reward those who invest the time to play as your own little way of making a statement against the AFK thing and maybe more people will start to see the benefit of not doing so.

The only reason you see 30 afk entertainers now instead of 4-5 as before is they want to be Jedi not entertainers.

Macroing is not the problem, it is the holocron profession grinds and unlocking the force slot path that is.

Personally i think that any path Soe makes the players find shortcuts through it or around it for example grinding/macroing.
But thats my opinion.

YOur right. Its a never ending war between power gamers and devs. devs will always try to crank out powergaming-unfriendly stuff but the power gamers are many, and clever. They find ways. They ALWAYS find ways. And they are linked like the borg. Theyre in constant communication with the hive of p-gamers all going at it like mad to find the shortcut and they will, and they figure out how VERY fast with any online game it seems. The devs have yet to stump the swarm of power gamers. They're annoying yes but impressive.

I'm surprised to see no posts defending the use of AFK macro's.
I am not that fussed about AFK dancers (ever walked into a Cantina for some RnR and it's empty? You'd pay for an AFK Macro'r then) although I wish they would drop their stupid chat from the macro's
"Tips would be nice"
"Please Heal"
"Thanks for the tips" <- That suggestion is on an Entertainers Guide on this site and I've seen it used, really annoying as the macro loops like once a minute.

The combat macro's seem wrong to me but they don't actually hinder or hurt me. So, although I don't agree with them I have bailed a couple of AFK'rs out when something bigger than they expected has spawned close by.

I like the versatility Macro's give you. I like the instant swap of weapons and appropriate HK pages I can get. I like that I can add combo's together if I want (even really simple ones like attack after a taunt, as taunt seems to make you stand there like a lemon) or just swapping armour for more appropriate atire.

Not sure how I would feel on a crack down on Macro'ing. Would there now be no image designers? Would Cantinas only have "real" entertainers (that would be nice) and would they now be empty at night. It'd be nice to force people to work for TK Novice rather than leave their PC on over a couple of nights...
But none of it really hurts me, the worst thing it does is ruin the "feel" of the game, especially in a cantina.

So I am neutral on this, I don't agree with their use as an exp grind but I personally think the DEV's should look at more important (and broken) issues in the game, first. They can fix macro's after they fix my furniture Smiley: wink

Maybe they should stop your xp-earning if you go AFK.

OK, just to have someone stick up for macroing.

As much as I would like to have the time to build my character up the right way, between a job, family, and other hobbies it just isn't going to happen.

The fact is that, if I don't macro, I'll never have a decent character (even with macroing it takes forever, as I can only play live once or twice a week).

IMO, the game should not be limited to only those that have tons of free time to devote to the game.

I at least try to stay in unpopulated areas so that I impact other players as little as possible.

I know where I hunt in the sticks there is almost never a person in the cantina to heal me. if it was not for macros I would not see the few I see. One can not sit in the cantina and heal mind and battle fatigue with time like in the hospital. I think macro for dancers are good. I play late at night also and it is hard to find dancers. so it has good and bad.

I dont have a problem with the macro's. In fact Im glad they are available. Because of the holos I was forced to give up master commando for master entertainer. Im gratefull for the macro's!!
I hated sitting in the cantina dancing and doing hair styles. I would rather be out gaining combat xp. As far as complaining about the time it takes to heal BF. If anything it has gotten easier. You can heal BF really fast now. Just listen to a musician and watch a dancer at the same time. I can heal over 300 BF in about 5 minutes. Now the cantina's are full. I've seen them completly empty before the holo grinds. Keep the Macro's. Please.

Going off topic for a sec, Captain Cavemen. You were not forced to give up commando, you freely got rid of it to venture down the path of the jedi.

On the Cracking down part. I think it has it's pros/cons just like everything else, no need to be longwinded about.

Personal can't see the problem..

I understand many people are effected by lag and such, but AFK Macros don't cause that.. Seriously, these people would still be on. Most of them are just doing other things instead of sitting in front of the screen hitting flourishes. "IT's FReAKEN BORING".. so they macro it out and then do something else.
Macro or not most people would rather enjoy the time and not painfully suffer through it, but SOE has designed a system that makes you Master Professions many of wich are pretty boring.

Macros are what are going to make those people go away faster.. without a macro system like this I think we would have tons more people filling the contina's they would be manualy XP grinding duing prime play hours.. instead they afk grind during off hours, get it done faster, and are off the server to their Jedi or Primary accounts sooner.

The problem isn't Macros.. the problems are..

1) Mastering Boring Professions to gain access to Jedi, and honestly the only professions you could be talking about are the Entertainer Professions.. all the others are usualy macroed at their house, or require less populated places. So you may have a few Client Side Lag issues if 20 or so Entertainers lag you out that bad.
2) Server Population
3) Server/Zone Stability

but like I said.. doesn't bother me.. I usualy have no trouble with moving around Theed or Coronet.
