Fencing by no means sucks.

Questions for you:
  • What level Fencer are you?
  • Do you have any pistoleer skills like healthshot1 which is a great opening shot and pulling device (if not use fencing bleed attack)?
  • Slice your weapon right, early levels slice for speed, later slice for damage
    [li]
  • Use a curved sword up until novice fencer then go with an armor piercing weapon and/or higher damage like the vibroblade, back it up with a gad baton
  • Take into account mobs that have armor and use the appropriate weapon
  • Wear armor (at least chest head arms legs)
  • Get at least novice medic and also pharm 1

  • Know what your attacks do and when to use them:
  • 1 hand body hit vs 1 hand health hit
  • Area attack
  • Bind
  • Dizzy
  • Beserk

  • Read the FAQs on fencing:
  • Check my link in my sig for the sony forum ones

  • Read the Teri Kasi FAQ, even as a fencer you will learn from it:

  • Sometimes in pursuing an advanced unarmed prof it is wise to master brawler too for the addition moves/skills at master brawler[lg][/lg]

Ok here are the skill modifiers for the Masters of all the Melee classes.
Fencer puts out the least damage, I believe it goes Swordsman, Pikeman, TK and Fencer in order of damage.

    Master Fencer

    Alertness +10
    Combat Equilibrium +30
    Defense Vs. Blind +20
    Defense Vs. Dizzy +20
    Defense Vs. Intimidate +20
    Defense Vs. Knockdown +40
    Defense Vs. Posture Change +40
    Dodge +25
    Melee Defense +24
    One-handed Melee Toughness +12
    One-handed Weapon Accuracy +60
    One-handed Weapon Speed +65
    Ranged Defense +19

    Master Heavy Swordsman

    Counterattack +25
    Defense Vs. Blind +10
    Defense Vs. Dizzy +20
    Defense Vs. Intimidate +20
    Defense Vs. Knockdown +25
    Defense Vs. Posture Change +10
    Defense Vs. Stun +30
    Melee Defense +20
    Ranged Defense +15
    Two-handed Melee Accuracy +40
    Two-handed Melee Speed +50
    Two-handed Melee Toughness +12

    Master Pikeman

    Counterattack +25
    Defense Vs. Blind +10
    Defense Vs. Dizzy +20
    Defense Vs. Intimidate +20
    Defense Vs. Knockdown +25
    Defense Vs. Posture Change +10
    Defense Vs. Stun +30
    Melee Defense +20
    Ranged Defense +15
    Two-handed Melee Accuracy +40
    Two-handed Melee Speed +50
    Two-handed Melee Toughness +12

    Master Teras Kasi

    Combat Equilibrium +55
    Defense Vs. Blind +10
    Defense Vs. Dizzy +5
    Defense Vs. Knockdown +30
    Defense Vs. Posture Change +20
    Defense Vs. Stun +15
    Meditate +85
    Melee Defense +30
    Ranged Defense +30
    Two-handed Melee Speed +10
    Unarmed Accuracy +105
    Unarmed Damage +120
    Unarmed Speed +60
    Unarmed Toughness +22

As you can see Fencer holds up fine against the other weapon classes. Having lower damage but best defences.
Can't compare to TK as they are just better than the rest.

If you want the best alround melee class then TK is it. If you want to play a fencer then play one you won't suck, trust me. You just won't be TK.

Not sure how far you have got with the Fencing profession (not that far I assume or you'd not be asking this) but you can expect them to rebalance these classes and who knows whether they will level things or break them.

Personally I'd like to see them up the TK's power a little more BUT...increase the skill point cost to go with it. I like the idea of the class and what it can do I just don't think they are very well balanced compared to other combat professions.

I am currently working on a Carbineer/Fencer with hopes to master both (Which is possible, after calculating on the Char Builder). I wanted this combo because 1.) I've never seen a player with this prof combo before and 2.) I wanted a way to switch from a distance fight to a hand-to-hand fight easily (and maybe trick a few players in PVP who run and dodge when they see the Fencer weapon, and when they think they are gonna kite me, I switch to Carbineer and take down their action bar and foil their Eye-shot spamming LOL).

And with the very positive looking combat class updates on the horizon, these sub-par profs will take on a whole new (and fantastic) light. New weapons, name changes, HAM cost reduction, new moves, battle system reworks, I can't wait!

    You can't go BH/Fencer......

A good idea is to check Character build....

Then you know what you can / can't go for.......

Check out "Character Builder" on this side.......
