You can count in your datapad from top to bottom left to right and that will be the corresponding number of the schematic for you. Otherwise if you have a zillion macros, just find out approximately where it is in the list in your datapad, and put up a number in a test macro and see if what you pulled up is before or after it and hone in on it that way.

SOE didn't make it anything intelligent like assigning numbers...

One thing to remember though, if you gain a skill level that adds schematics it may or may not change the number of that item so check it each time after you train. The numbers are dynamic based on your skills. Hope this helps.
