Bug with Crafting and Macros?Follow

#1 Jan 01 2004 at 4:11 PM Rating: Decent
Has anyone else noticed that the command: /nextCraftingStage no longer works? Also, when I use /createPrototype, my crafting session ends immediately.

Any thoughts?

Well, for those who are interested, and this may have happened a while ago I guess, the /nextcraftingstage command no longer works (and yes I tried a variety of capital C and S). Also, it appears the /createPrototype command also no longer works, it merely ends your session and eats your ingredients.

I have used my crafting macros successfully since the last update. Yes, some times your resources get eaten. BUT - I've found -

1. don't move to or from a station if they are working.
2. one tool might eat resources yet another tool will work.
3. clicking on the tool seems to cause it to eat resources more often than pressing a key to activate the tool.
4. using a shifted-function key to activate a tool causes some weird UI problem.
5. a tool which is eating can sometimes be made to work if you click or hit enter as required to create something.

The aren't going to take this out. Read the holocron-help and read the FAQ part. AFK macroing is okay according to the text there. (No they don't seem to have the EULA in agreement with that now do they.)

If they are going to taken anything out - the first thing they will take out will be "/ui action".

I'm not doubting you at all, but I would love to see what your exact crafting macro is. I've used almost every crafting macro found on Allakhazam, and have even experimented with variations and absolutely none of them work. They all have problems with /nextcraftingstage and /createPrototype, which leads me to think I am either missing some major piece of the puzzle that is not being told in the macro walk throughs here, or, the commands are bugged.

So, if you please, what is your exact macro and how do you set it up to work?

Hmm .. you guys wouldn't happen to be grinding crafting tools would you?

I just dropped MA this week, but have used those macros on all kinds of things, and the only time I've seen that happen was when I was grinding out some crafting tools of various kinds. I'd start one tool working, open the next, and as the first one counted down the crafting session would end and I'd lose whatever resources I had in the schematic so far. It only happened on certain things.. Is this maybe what is happening? If not, how long has this been going on?

Actually, I was planning on using it to grind camps for the Scout skill, since making camps gets you XP as well as being in them. I was planning on sitting in a camp while making camps. However, doesn't seem to work (in a camp or otherwise). I've tried different schematics and tool kits as well and every time the /nextcraftingstage command will not advance the stage, and then the /createPrototype ends the session and eats the materials.

But I'll say this, it consistently eats the materials, so there is at least some consistency :)

Well unless something changed very recently ....

I'll have to fool around with it when I get home, now you have me wondering heh. It's been under a week since I used the following macro:

/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/createprototype;

All lowercase has always worked for me. By the way, for me once the commands were used I never actually SEE it move to the next crafting stage, it just sat there for a minute, then the window would close and the number on the crafting tool would begin it's little countdown.

I used a macro found here a couple months ago to grind through med crafting to get to novice BE in about 4 hours. It worked like a charm, but I noticed that the /nextcraftingstage didn't advance the screen. Instead, the icon of whatever I was crafting simply disappeared. At that point, I just closed down the crafting window by clicking the x, and the macro went on to my next /ui button, which had a second, third, fourth, etc crafting device. I just had to pay attention to when the icon disappeared, and close the window. If I didn't close the window on time, I would get a failed to craft error.

Doesn't really help with crafting afk, but definately speeds things up.

So has anyone had the chance to test and see if SWG nerfed the commands: /nextcraftingstage and /createPrototype ?

I had someone tell me that the commands don't actually advacne the screen, they just create the item, which sounds like a bug to me, not a command. But, I tried it, and still crafting session would end and the resources were eaten. No xp.

So, if anyone knows if these commands still work or not, I for one would love to know. And if you get them to work, how do you get them to work?

Thanks!

I used a macro last night that has both those commands to grind out another level of tailor. On occasion, one tool will not start making the item. My guess is that was a critical failure that just wasn't displayed as such. However, I can confirm that they do work, at least in my macro.

I noticed I cannot grind on my home planet Dantoine on prime times the server lag gets so big grind craftion will fail very often with a fast grind macro.

What I did was flying to a place with less people and I had zero problems with my grind. Corelia/dabrofa guefel did it for me but if you want even les lag fly yavin or endor XD

Hey Restyn, make sure you are not crafting near an area were you can experiment (ex, crafting stations). If you do that you lose the resource and get no xp. So, make sure you are away from any crafting stations and try the macro again.

I've successfully used a crafting macro when I chose to give up the Spices line in smuggler while working my way through Dirty Fighting; I didn't want to have to do the whole SpiceI-IV again by hand.

My macro (based on a macro from swgmedic) uses:
/nextCraftungStage;
(2x) and
/createPrototype practice no item;
(2x)

I also have a /pause 1 before it "loops" by calling a follow-up macro for the 2nd (or 3rd) crafting tool.

I think there is a wider problem here as I can't get an Image Design macro to work either yet other people can - all this week.

I think they have bugged something in the macro commands area of the game by mistake :(

Incidentally, has anyone got a CURRENT working ID macro?
