Some snippets:

"In a twist, the Draenei are descended from the same demonic race, the Eredar, that produced some of Warcraft’s most fearsome foes, like the demon Archimonde."

"In addition to being able to test-play the Draenei, attendees at the convention this week, formally known as the Electronic Entertainment Expo, will get their first peek at the Nether Drakes, which are among several flying beasts that players will be able to mount in Burning Crusade."

Wait wait. Draeneis are Eredars and vice versa?

Are they telling me that those little ugly thingies in Swamp of Sorrows are related to Archimonde? The bigass guy who tried to tilt the World Tree?

Smiley: lol

I guess you can find a red thread if you search real hard.

Did you read the article at all? The original Draenai were some of most holy races out there before the Burning Legion corrupted them.

No, I didn't read it. Still licking my wounds from the bet I lost in that other thread.

But just explain to me why the Draenei (who apparently used to be very holy) look exactly like the Eredar (who used to be very evil)?

Take the (tailless) Lost Ones in Swamp of Sorrows and compare them to the Draenei in that E3 trailer (they have tails).

Going with the whole mutation thing is far out.

Yeah, the interview was great.

Has gotten me really excited that they realize the issues and are working on fixing them and have some really nice stuff coming in the expansion.

10-15 lvl 70s to kill Ragnaros. So much for the existing raid content being trivialzed. That means it would still take about 30 lvl 70s to kill Kel'Thuzad.

The original Draenei and Archimonde's race of Eredar were descended from the same parent race.

As for the Lost Ones... it's amazing what corruption can do for you.

Evidence of magical corruption totally changing a species: Night Elves to Naga and Night Elves to Satyr.

The Dranei you find around the world now are the corrupted sort of Dranei. They are corrupted due to their home in what is now the outlands was basically blown apart and made into a lot of asteroids.

Video.

So it is indeed the Dranei, but it's the uncorrupted Dranei that didn't have their faces melted.

I for one am pretty content. When I heard the prospects of Draenei, I immediately thought "Oh god, not those ugly bastards from the swamp." However, I do like the overall look of the OG Draenei. Finally the Alliance get a race of physical stature! I have a feeling that this race will signal my return to the Arms warrior build.

Ohh, thanks for explaining it (sorry for being such a lore nub ;D).

Guess it makes sense then. It's just that I look at the new race and Archimonde keeps popping up in my memory. They really don't look like "holy" creatures.

Give them two horns and wings and I'd say they look like Dreadlords.

But the whole Night Elf to Naga/Satyr thing is amazing. I didn't know they were Night Elves once. Always figured they were hostile species native to Kalimdor (well, they are, but didn't know they were Night Elves).

Yeah, a lot of the Warcraft lore is a very interesting read.

That's the whole reason that Night Elves hate the Naga and Satyr clans so much - they are descended from the same ancestry, but Naga and Satyr allowed themselves to be corrupted.

Well I wouldn't be suprised if the Dreadlords are related to some extent with the Dranei, they do come from the same dimension I guess.

But on the Night Elf thing it may be worth mentioning that it was supposed to be the Maelstrom, the gaping chasm of energy in the center of the world you can see on your map as the swirly, rather than demonic energies. Demonic energies being from the twisted nether and the Maelstrom being just a twisted sort of life energy I suppose.

If your wondering the Blood Elves had a big thing for being connected to magical energies from the sunwells much like Night Elves liked their moonwell fix, they just got their fix differently which is supposed to be why they look the way they do.

Yeah, so there is a precedent for the OG Draenai and the SoS Lost Ones.

I have a feeling any quests involving the Draenai will have a "we feel sorry for what has happened to our cousins, the Lost Ones, and must do what we can to help them" and "we cannot stand for this abomination that our cousins, the Broken Ones, have become and must eradicate them" feel to them.

for those of you who actually think that the uncorrupted draenai look different. play tft and look at the draenai they are uncorrupted before you say that those ones are corrupted look at their leader; akama then read the TBC bestiary akama is the leader of the uncorrupted draenai therefore he is an uncorrupted one. the corruption is only mental and they did not change physically. if you look at the picture of the broken you will see that they have a less discernable mouth. then look at this race they look nothing like the picture of the broken and they do have a visible mouth. plus the dranei are actually shorter than humans while these guys are the size of tauren
