WoW gave me a job? ;)Follow

#1 Mar 03 2006 at 6:13 PM Rating: Good
So many of you might know I'm getting canned from my job on June 30th.

So I've been looking for what I'm going to do next, I'm not sure yet, still wondering if going back to school or starting a business would be an option. Turns out I had an interview for a job today, same field and everything. I'm going out of curiosity more then because I want the job or anything.

I stopped by the corner store and bought a Computer Gaming World magazine, since they always to some waiting time before an interview.

The interview goes very well, while the guy might be an expert ************ he seems genuisly impress with me. So the interview ends...

Human Ressource Guy (HRG): Well, good interview. We'll contact you Monday to let you know our decision.

Me: Thank you.

/Get up, shake hand, pick up coat - which revels the CGW mag underneath it.

HRG: You're a gamer?

Me: Of course.

HRG: Any game in specific?

Me: Well, mostly World of Warcraft lately.

HRG: You'll have to change server then.

Me: Oh really? (ORLY?)

HRG: Yah Really (YARLY! Smiley: lol - he actually said Yah, not yeah)

Me: Which one are you guys on?

HRG: Zul'jin (I think that's the one he said)

Me: That's pve or pvp?

HRG: PVE

Me: :\ I see. (Must have shown in my face)

HRG: But we pvp a lot.

Me: Alright. Well see you Monday.

HRG: Yeah, see you Monday.

Smiley: lol

I don't even know if I want the job, but I got a feeling I'm going to get a call saying I got it :P.

Maybe I should add this to my resume:

World of Warcraft 2004-2006
  • 3 level 60 on both Alliance and Horde (Shaman, Warrior, Rogue).
  • MC experience.
  • Guild Leadership Experience
  • Rank 9 in pvp

That is really cool. Why don't you want the job though? Getting tired of the field? Or do you just really have your heart set on something else?

Should be one hell of a great work enviroment at the least!

7 hours of WoW chat, one hurried hour trying to accomplish the days task before running home to play with the boss.

    Nice, Tyr.

You should've told him, when he revealed they played on a PvE server:

    lolz u carebears i r teh pwnz n ur liek bait ftw wtf u noob i r 1337!11

    Oh wait, job interview?

    Never mind then.

I am sick of the field :P. However, it's so much easier to go with flow, put my resume online and wait for the phone to ring then to actually go back to school and start somewhere or start a business. I'm a bit of a coward I guess :(

And while he job looks more challenging and interesting then the one I currently have (for now anyway), the shifts and the pay are worse. Kinda hard to justify that.

lol, my inner voice actually went 'Crap! Carebears!' when he said that. I'm assuming it showed on my face because he went right out and said they pvped a lot :P

Nothing like knowing that you'll fit in at a new place. Sometimes that's half the battle.

Tyr, just what company was that?
As you know we both live in Montreal, and just about everyone in my company plays on Zul'jin including managers.

Heck we sometimes have beat the heck out of a manager and win a prize weekends.

Does finding it amusing to run into ppl from your own town on the net make me a geek?

Heh, I always stop by to see an old boss of mine and I hang around chatting about games for a good 15-20 minutes... gets me some weird looks, being a woman in her 20's talking to a guy in his 30's about video games. :p Games didn't help me get the job, nor keep it when I was hired on as assitant manager. Head office was a bunch of cows and didn't like my honest attitude. Heh. Too bad for them, I made them a huge profit while being blunt and honest. They want you to make money and lie about your products.

    I think I've actually been turned away from EB jobs before for being a gaming girl, I'm overqualified and will work for base pay but they keep saying no. I want a fun part-time job but they won't take me. ; ;

Didn't know you guys were from Montreal.

That would explain why we disagree so much.

I'm on the south shore myself, just over the Mercier.

    Which city/town?

    It better not be Chateauguay.

...Wow, I haven't written that word since grade 5. Awkward one.

I go to Plattsburgh all the time for the mall, because there's still lots of things you can't find in Quebec.
