So I am closing in on 35, and I am starting to ask myself... Is there a real point in grinding to get to 50? Do I get anything special for being at 50? Or should I just stop now and catch whichever specific fish I need for whatever I want to craft?
I was hoping for someones advice who's up in that range... Any thoughts/ suggestions/ advice? Going from 35 --> 50 is going to be a serious time commitment and I am hoping for some input on if it will be worth it or not.

Just take your time and target the fish to help you level crafts; there is nothing special at 50 outside of having a better chance at Red Coral +3 which sells well for HQ Crab Bow synthers. I leveled Alchemy and Fishing simultaneously and am glad I did; both are currently 42 and there were lengthy periods where I hung out in Cassiopeia Hollow catching Nether Newts or Thanalan Docks for Black Sole for synthing purposes despite the XP being lower.

Yeah this is true. Also, I just realized there is probably a huge market for the supply quest items... People want to hand these in but generally can't catch the fish themselves. Being a lv 50 reallly gives us a leg up here!
I still only target 1 fish for gil. It's a rank 3 fish. I feel I got to 50 for nothing. Well except running around with 3000+ hp of course.

Yeah I hear you there. I guess having a 50 fisherman will come in use when they raise the cap and there are new fish to catch, or new recipes.
being level 50 as a FSH also allows for easier catching of the top level alchemy crystal recipe fish, grade of the pond does have some influence but level of the fish also comes into play, and you'll definitely notice if you're trying to catch a black sole at level 30 versus a malm kelp

Just dinged 50 today!!!! Don't know if it will be worth it or not, but I'm sure glad I did it!
Also, hopefully us R50 fisherman will have an advantage when all the knew cooking recipes hit!
