Targeting copper ore :: World of Warcraft

I've been trying to target copper ore, as I need more of it than anything else right now, and it's "sweet spot" of +3 doesn't seem to make much difference. Is there anything that can be done to try to get more copper ore? I've got more tin and bone chips than I know what to do with, but almost no copper.

I've been mining rank 1 and 2 areas around Thanalan, but there isn't any significant difference anywhere. Do I just need better tools? Re-allocate stats? Or is this all randomly based, and I just have to mine more and hope for the best?

What rank are you? Perhaps you're not getting much because you're not high enough to get it all that frequently.

Also, only some nodes will drop Copper Ore, not all within an area. Locate the nodes which produce and then smash it.
