Bamboo Fishing RodFollow

#1 Oct 08 2010 at 8:15 PM Rating: Decent
I don't see any post on this, so here, please help us all out!

I'm rank 26 fisher and still using willow.. seems to be working ok.. but it's time to upgrade.
I found the recipe for the Bamboo Rod on YellowGremlin, finally gathered all 8 ingredients, mind you this was like a week ago now too, so some of the stuff (iron wire, antelope horn, nakki leather) were not extremely common. Bring all these materials to, at the time, my lv 20 carpenter friend.. and ... BAM.. "you cannot make anything with these materials".

/disappointment

If anyone comes across a recipe, or knows someone who has, please post it, or a link to it here! I'd love to have one of these, and can't believe they're not a part of the game already.

eek! Was just about to ask a friend to make this for me. I took a break at fisher 13 to lvl GS(16)so I can make the reels and hooks. Alc (20) took longer than I expected too but I know they will come in useful -

Thanks for the info. :/
No, seriously, I was kinda hoping for a recipe... or a contact. Maybe the server you're on? Name of crafter?
Don't get me wrong, grats on your rod, but this doesn't help at all.

No sweat. xD Thanks for the update. I'm on Wutai, and I've gathered the materials for the rod according to the recipe on Yellow Gremlin, but they didn't work. Maybe I should be on the carpenters forums. I'm going to be level 28 fisher soon, and I'm still using the willow rod. I'm fishing well enough to level up, but I know there's more potential.

On Selbina a retainer called Mephisto is selling them. An ls member saw one and grabbed it for me, said it was the last one. By the time I got to the retainer he had 2 more for sale for 180k each. Top ward when you teleport to the wards in Limsa.

Thanks for the info, I just found a guy on Wutai selling one for 250k. I made a fast offer of 175k, but he said "Nah I'll sell it for 250." I asked where he found the recipe, and he wouldn't give it up. It's not that I don't have the gil, it's a matter of this item (even at level 27 fisher) being a necessity.

I'm fishing grade 4 at the moment with very good success. It might go faster with a marginally better rod, but I ask myself: "Is it really worth 200k+ when I can level just fine w/o it?". I answered that. Nope, it's not. In 2 weeks this rod will be 50k. And the next one will be expensive.

Fishing is not incredibly gear intensive. There are probably types of fish I won't catch without the most current rod, but I'm not going to sweat it to the tune of 250k. When I get a recipe, I'll hunt down the ingredients, and ask a carpenter friend to synth it for me.

Again, if anyone finds the recipe for this, please let us know.

Thanks. I found the recipe on YG last night. Wanted to wait to test it before posting. An Armorer and Smithy can put together most of the materials relatively cheap, so the 250k-400k people are asking is a serious gouge. If you've got the money to toss into it, then enjoy. I'm either gonna find the materials myself, or wait til the gouge is over.

I saw one for sale on Wutai... no idea what these crafters are thinking. I'll wait it out too...did cough up $95k for a Willow Rod though...just not enough crafters making these for fisherman.

If on Mysida you can contact me. I can provide all of the materials except the Iron Reel (which costs about 40k) but can also provide you with the names of the Blacksmith for the Iron Reel and names of two carpenters R31+ that will do the Bamboo Fishing Rod (but they ask about 30k each).
