I was just in AV on my shammy alt. I was in resto spec. I went into TP and there were 7 or 8 alliance (my team) and three or four horde. No one attacked anyone, except me. They just kept trading places and taking the tower back and forth. I put down a Magma Totem to try and interrupt, and someone on my team said in /say "Would you cut it out!" We lost.

Children's Week Achievement. Bah.

Makes certain achievements extremely easy, if you happen to be going for Battlemaster (overly defensive in AB, Tower Defense and AV allstar)

I'm going to ask a question I know the answer to:

But how is that an achievement?

But this is the core of why School of Hard Knocks is such a terrible required achievement. PvP players hate it because achievement hunters just want to get the requirement done and don't care about the goals of the BG. Non-PvP players hate it because they don't really want to PvP and it's a big stress trying to get the achievement done in the face of competition for the flag, tower, etc.

I understand the spirit of the achievement is to get people to participate in BGs. In practice, all it does is make people's individual goal outweigh the team goal. It pisses everybody off.

I'm really kind of surprised Blizzard hasn't changed the requirements of Hard Knocks. It would be pretty simple to change them to make it less disruptive to BGs. Something like win, kill, heal type options. Or, just make it so it's not a requirement for the Children's Week meta.

This is why I'm glad I got this achievement done like 2 years ago, and why I will never do it on another character. I don't BG enough to be effected by it. If I had enough competent people on my team to still win then I would be fine with it. But I would probably get pretty pissed if I was constantly losing to the same thing.

I don't really mind exploiting an achievement like tower defense, because it's just really grindy and much easier when your character has stealth. I think many of the BG achievements, Alterac Valley especially were designed for a much slower style of play with lots of back and forth of towers and GYs and that just doesn't happen these days.

So yeah, i would definitely urge people to take the chance to get some Battlemaster cheevos done during world events like this. I got stormtrooper earlier very easily in EotS because so many allies kept zerging the flag trying to cap it with their orphan and our elite kill squad simply let them grab it then nuked them :)

You can interfere, thus dragging the process out and coming off as a sped to everyone, or just let these folks get their achievement and then leave or go back to fighting to win - your choice.

Smart thing to do is not interfere (or just do something other then BGs that week) because the harder you work to prevent people from getting their meta achievement, the more times they're going to have to queue up and make your life miserable thanks to Blizz's idiotic decision to force non-PvPers into the BGs.

I know the official excuse is that by forcing peeps that normally wouldn't do BGs to do them thanks to the meta that this will result in new players getting into PvP but let's be realistic, this is a miserable XP for most of them thanks to a combination of lack of gear making them gank bait and folks like the OP doing their best to interfere.
