Twice this morning my 1550ish team got matched against 1875-1900 rated teams. And in both cases, they gained rating when they beat us. Word to the wise: if you're trying to get 2k and can't quite make it, just play on Sunday morning. Rise to the top at the expense of scrubs!

That one DK wasn't even that good.

Reminds me of the short time I did arena back in TBC. My 1300ish team got matched up against this 2k rated team stacked in the best gear at the time (don't remember what set it was). This was at like 2 am on a wednesday morning or something and apparently we were the only people queuing at the time, because we met them twice and got steam rolled in seconds each time. We didn't lose any points, though, and they didn't gain any.

My ~1850ish 5s team in TBC got matched against a 2200 (back when 2200 was a serious accomplishment) team for 5-6 games in a row.

We beat them 4 times in a row after losing the first match. Moral of the story? Bads can get to 2200 too.

(My 5s team for the record was rogue/feral/warrior/hunter/holy pally; it was decent at the time, but nothing special.)

Sometimes the level of ******** you have to go up against to get gladiator on a competitive server (the top ranked teams fully geared alts sniping you with counter-comps, queue dodging and win trading) it's easier just to intentionally tank your MMR and farm people you know you can beat for 1-4 points at a time.

Or you can run lock/war/druid like my buddy leetsoss on cyclone and farm kfc to get rank 1. Or you can just run kfc and lulz your way to 2200.

*******.
