I beat a warlock. 1v1. With 95% of my health left. After she attacked me first while I was minding my own business doing dailies not noticing I was still flagged.

Shut UP it is SO an accomplishment. F'ers have been two-shotting me left and right for at least a year.

Did this:

and we still lose. Smiley: frown

Actually, that's pretty much a daily occurrence.

All that for 52 honor. Totally worth it.

It's not any different than I normally play, truth be told. As a rogue, I can't really do anything but kill people and demolishers in order to win the BG.

I was getting some spot healing in that BG, which is really the only way I get close to Wrecking Ball.

God, that happened to me so often pre-WOTLK. It's terrible if you dominate the scoreboards and lose anyway.

Wrecking Ball is an awesome achievement though - I got it by spending a WSG defending and 3-shotting anybody who picked up our flag with a pocket healer on the roof.

Hot Streak, mage/priest 2v2. Don't even have it on my main. If i found a good warrior i could go holy and get it in one evening probably.

Most of my favourite "achievements" happen while leveling alts and outnumbered. Usually in STV!

Distract, sap, stuns, peeling off healers, aoe poison debuffs (that still works, right?). Anything to scatter and un-focus the opposing forces =) Being able to aoe slow effects is amazing in many applications.

Actually, one of my favorite things in AB on my rogue used to be kiting some heavy-hitter from the flag when I saw a couple teammates heading down. Most BG players get so obsessed about chasing after someone for their HK that they easily forget about the goals of the game. Or they realize only too late that they just left two defending against three...

Man, I need to start PvP'ing more seriously again....

Distract doesn't work, but yes, locking down healers and peeling helps. In SotA though, which is the BG I was in, killing people is more productive since a lot of people will be carrying seaforium.

Shaman fully kitted out in PvP gear. 2 shotting ungeared, 4 shotting geared players. Should have rolled elemental for s7/8.

Got the mount for killing horde leaders.

Got rejected from being social in a pvp guild. Not too bothered about it though. When I do get the shaman to 85 I don't think it will be a problem getting partners. Ofcourse the realm she is on is pretty bad for pvp, so may need to transfer anyway. See how that goes.

Oh, I get ya Theo. Just wanted to point out that dispersion of the enemy and adding confusion to their efforts could also be valuable.

Back on topic: Started working on the Conquest tabard (somewhat half-heartedly to be honest) and have discovered that I actually really enjoy IoC. As much as AB perhaps. Did I have a brain spasm?

Yes, you might have a mild retardation.

IoC is literally everything I hate about AV, EotS, and SotA.

  • Vehicles
  • 40v40
  • High ledges that knockbacks can and will throw you off of.

  • The only nice thing about IoC is that I can pretty much do anything other than stand completely still and I won't get marked AFK.

Call to Arms: Strand of the Ancients weekends are always fun for me, but the one two weeks back was just hilarious. I assembled a guild premade--we’re starting to prepare for the rated battlegrounds--and we ran SotA for many hours. We hoped to run into other premades: you don’t really learn anything from steamrolling PuGs. We were not disappointed.

But most of those premades were really bad at SotA. Not because they were bad at PVP, either--we were running into coordinated teams who knew how to chain CC, use LoS and focus people down, but couldn’t seem to get their head around the battleground. They’d kill us and kill us on the beach while we merrily rooted and CC’d them to peel them off the demolishers. Since we didn’t kill them, they didn’t respawn past the gates. Once the beach gates fell, it was all over--our shadowstep rogues were in position to cap the inner graveyards, so we had more tanks rolling up before the enemy could get off the beach.

I mean, god, they were using healers. What’s a healer going to do in SotA, heal a demolisher? I can dispel DoTs off a demolisher as easily in shadowform as in full holy, and that’s all you can really do for them directly. Better to be in full DPS spec to help vaporize vehicles on defense and control pursuers on offense. They were killing demolishers with no one in them! Thanks, pals, I can wait ten seconds for one to spawn at full health. Our team knew to DPS unoccupied demolishers to 10% of health and leave them. They were trying to kill the people attacking their demolishers! The damage I can do to that demolisher while you pew pew me will be plenty, friends, so thanks for not just frost trapping me here while it rolls majestically away.

Now on the other hand, the premades we fought who both knew how the BG worked and had PVP experience just creamed us. Few of my guildies have played arena beyond 2x2, so they’re still struggling with calling a switch and so on. We’re getting better, though, and learning things like how to run a good tankbusting squad and how to micromanage those critical first seconds at the docks.

I have no doubt that the people who dominate the rated battlegrounds will mostly be the people who dominate the arenas currently. But right now there’s a fair number of people who are too proud of their usual tactics to adapt, and while that lasts it’s going to be fun to plow them.

/shrug I don't have a DPS spec, and I heal in Strand. There's always empty space on a demolisher because there aren't enough ranged DPS and I stand up there and heal the people protecting it between smiting the people attacking it. I'm also good to have around when trying to take a gy.

The thing about when your class(es) are OP nothing feels like much of an accomplishment. Frost mage holy pally, if I went by what the o-boards said I'd think I'm the devil. Mages do a ton of damage right now and pally healing is insane. I just casually queue for BGs and kind of laugh at how crazy it is. I didn't die much before on these characters and liked to think I was half decent, so when you have that background and know the classes like the back of your hand, then they get massive buffs and all of a sudden you're OP its kind of fun for a while.

Fully expecting/anticipating nerfs, not a big deal to me. Haven't accomplished much in the way of PVP lately just grinding rep towards Conq on both.

    City Defender x2 last night.

Why do people, who obviously were together on the road leading up to UC, decide to come in one at a time?

Also people, it's not terrible if you actually let the enemy sit before blowing them to hell. =)

My achievement for the week. I was hit for 95k damage by a Mage. I was trying to heal in SotA, the mage was a Passenger in a demo. I couldnt work out why people on my raid screen were being 1shot, then it was my turn. I checked recount and the chat log to see if MSBT had lied to me. It was 89435 damage, 4500 resisted. Alot overkill.

I have never seen an attack hit me for more than 30k before, 95k was just terrifying.

    That's a ******** even at 85, much less 80.

A good buddy of mine reactivated his account and logged into his warrior. I noticed he had almost enough honor for a wrathful piece to replace his green leveling chest, so he tried a few BGs. We had a good laugh at his attempts to kill stuff, but by far the funniest death was an arcane mage casually one-shotting him with arcane barrage; the 4 second cd instant cast ability (slightly over 16k crit, he has 15.8k hp).

95k are you for real? o.O

I have a mage even when I deck out my PVE gear and go arcane with AP up and incanters absorbtion I dont see close to those numbers. I have seen 30k+ crits in a video by a mage better geared then I (watch the 137-0 AV video shows how hard 1 button spam is..) but he was nearly BiS PVE so I dont see how you go from 35k crits on no resil targets to 95k. Its almost too much damage for me to believe without a screenshot

Also to maintain 4 stack AB you have to basically spam a 2 second arcane cast or the buff falls off. Not saying the specs not doing OP damage right now but at the same time its pretty easy to avoid, ferals are a much bigger problem for me then arcane mages, with a little field awareness they are a complete non-issue for me. Healing in range of a demo? Bad idea no offense. Theres always ranged DPS in demos so unless you are burning one down why be in range?

I really wish I had taken a screen shot, I dont know why I didnt. This was before the Arcane Blast nerf obviously. I can only assume he had arcane power up, that 10% interrupt damage buff and any trinkets and procs active. I only had 50 resilience and no inbuilt damage reduction on myself.

I still have no idea how he reached 95k. The most annoying this was his name was Zytas with a little squiggly thing above the a so I have no idea how to armory him.

That would have epic lol, but yeah I believe it anyways. It is crazy that anyone is 1 shotting people period, when I saw some full HP 1 shots in that AV video my jaw just dropped. And it was basically every crit was dropping someone. Not always from full health but crits were basically kills.

Somewhat accomplishment related, I think I decided on my 2 cata toons. I started an undead hunter, tons of fun. And the other will be goblin resto shaman. Already doing lots of PVP on my hunter practicing and setting up keybinds. Started him out as JC/engi, I'm throwing bombs all over WSG

I hate everyone in a Battleground who isn't me.

I was doing Warsong Gulch with my 40ish Kitty druid today. I chose to stay in defense, foolishly relied on my team to attack. The game ended 3-0 to the Horde (I was Alliance). The Horde flag was never touched the whole match and I was the only person on the Alliance team to return a flag. I returned it seven ******* times on my own, and my team couldn't muster up the effort to even touch the Horde flag.

So my Accomplishment for today was finding one of the worst Battleground groups I've ever had the misfortune to play with. It included a Worgen Kitty who spent the entire Battleground swearing at everyone else for being useless even though he only managed 4.6k damage in 23 minutes.

Bah, Battlegrounds fill me with sweary words and rage.

I won in Tol Barad today. Was weird because there aren't that many 85s to fill it up.

Seems like it will be better than WG.

I really doubt it. It's pretty broken if you're defending.

All you have to do is stack everyone at one tower and hope that your team doesn't suck and you win.

WG would have been far more balanced had they just used the queue system for TB in it (i.e. 1 for 1).

The only reason I won last night when attacking was because the Alliance had no idea what they were doing, so they split up.

Since the attackers have to hold all three bases, it's extremely hard to defend them if the other team is stacking everyone at one base and sending out 2-4 man raiding parties once your entire team is at the tower they're defending.

I do like the Siege Engines in TB, though. That's how they should have been in WG.

For the second week in a row I went into the arena to cap my CPs for the week. We won more matches than we lost. Yep, that counts as an accomplishment for me. BOW DOWN to my l33t 854 rating, suckers! :D Rating will only climb slowwwly for us because we're only playing enough matches to get our points.

Also got my first piece of Vicious gear, which is also my first equipped Cata epic. I was 17 points short of the staff (which I'm choosing over MH/OH), so I got the wand, which was the only other slot I had no PVP gear in. 717 points into next Tuesday I can pick up the staff.

I'm having a lot more fun doing arena with my priest than I was with my Paladin last time I tried arena, which was well over a year ago. Not a matter of which class is better, just which class I know better and feel more comfortable with.

Comfort/playstyle is EVERYTHING in my eyes. They could literally buff resto shamans to be 3x stronger then they are, nerf holy paladins, I'd still stick with holy because its what I know. I feel like I can play it with my eyes closed. Grats on the epic! I slacked on hitting 85 for like a good month so I'm way behind on the honor grind..havent even stepped into arena yet! I feel totally undergeared to spam trade chat looking for a partner, but I'm beasting in battlegrounds. If someone actually took a chance on an undergeared healer who claims to be good they might be in for a surprise. But you know how pugs work, if you dont have the l33t gearscorez nobody wants to talk to you. I haven't even done a rated BG yet for this reason.

No rush I'm having a good time honor grinding. Loving Alliance INSTANT queues and the new BGs utterly rock my socks off. Making AB and WSG clones was like the best thing I could have ever hoped for. Now if they would just remove IoC... =D
