Just as my title says, and in case you chums didn't know. You are able to purchase the wrathful set with the exception of shoulders and the 2200 weapon, without the usual required rating.

Even though the item is red as it usually would be if you didn't have the rating, it is still purchasable...and a gulidie told me a blue said this was "intended".

Have fun gearing up those 80's!

But I'm thinking of just banking honor until 85, instead of blowing it all now on what will be replaceable gear anyways. Although trying out new specs with the free wrathful is also a good option.

What are your plans folks?

I realized afterwards that this info was already relayed in xorq's thread... :(

I'm less excited about this than one would think. First of all, it would have been nice if they'd told me this before I spent all my honor on relentless pieces. Second, if I was one of you good people who just got this gear with rating, I'd be pissed. Are you pissed? I understand the sentiment behind making it available (it makes little difference at this point, by the time I grinded enough honor for this gear I'd only get to wear it for 3 weeks anyway, etc.), but the season just ended. It seems wrong for, say, a suckwad AFKer to log in for the first time post-patch and be able to spend his newly converted honor points on the weapon someone else earned only a week or so ago.

Plus, selfishly, the thought of grinding out another set of gear is kind of soul crushing. :D I'll probably see if I can get the weapon since that's a big jump for me, but I'm not going to go out of my way to grind battlegrounds if I'd rather be doing something else for the other pieces, which will be incremental upgrades I'll be replacing in two months anyway.

Yeah, i wasted a ton of honor on relentless pieces too. How difficult would it have been to announce this in a blue post somewhere?

Yes Teacake, blizzards communication on what their plan is for pvp is horrible. The oboards rarely get blue posts and the stickies are ancient. All of a sudden these changes occur out of the blue and were all left wondering wtf is going on.

It does irk me that they're giving these out for free now but at least I have my shoulders on my main so people know I got them the hard way.

I'll probably work for weapons, but **** gemming and enchanting another gear set.

...though I'll probably end up buying it all. Smiley: frown

You can purchase it, but you still need the rating to equip it, don't you?

No. I tested on an OH.

Works fine.

As Theo stated in another thread they would allow people to be able to buy gear without rating with the exception of the 2200 ratings. I believe this is just a start to that. The arena season ended so it's not going to affect ratings. The gear will just be replaced by the next pvp gear in cata anyways so there is really no reason to not start it now.

Plus it was a pretty good honor dump, since people freaked out not knowing if it was a bug or not and people went out and probably blew all their HP on them.

Yeah, let's hope there's no honor wipe pre-S9.

(Anyone heard about one?)

I haven't heard of one Theo, and I'd be surprised if they actually let us know ahead of time.

So even though the stuff says on the vendor that you need an honor rating to purchase it you can still purchase it?

Yes, just go ahead and click on it and try, it'll ask you if you want to spend your honor points on it and there you go, a new wrathful piece.

I've bought the Shiv twice now to prove to people in my guild that it's possible, then sold it back, so that's possible too.

Yeah I was looking over the bug forums when it was first found out and people were yelling bug and exploit all over the place and finally I found a thread with a blue response that claimed it wasn't but people don't read and still post it's a bug.

I wish people knew how to read/use search (talking about oboards not here).

It's a valid complaint around here too, just not as prevalent.

It can be quite frustrating to farm honor at the moment anyway since people leaving and entering the bg during battles causes the honor to get bugged all over the place.

It almost seems (READ: SEEMS) as if it gives each player "someone's" honor instead of their own, and sometimes it doesn't give any.

The scoreboards appear to credit honor to people that aren't in the battle and doesn't show people that are in it. It's also showing nameless horde players on the alliance team and nameless alliance players on the horde team.

There's also a horrid bug that by now is known as "The Cog of Death" which causes WoW to freeze up or disconnect on any action related to the cog icon, sometimes from only doing mouseover on a BG flag. Warsong can be quite frustrating when clicking on a flag causes wow to crash.

Battlegrounds are indeed very buggy right now. Whatever you do, DO NOT CLICK ON THE MAGE TABLE. (Or a flag.)

So far I've got the mace, the off-hand, and the wand. It didn't take me terribly long to grind them out, although of course it felt long. For those of us who actually try to win pug BG's it's hard not to feel like we're earning our upgrades (after all, babysitters aren't cheap), but I still don't know that this was the nicest thing to do to the arena peoples. Nobody here seems that upset though. And obviously I don't feel guilty enough to refuse to partake. ;)

I've got two more pieces of iLevel 245 on and would like to at least replace those, then see how much I can boost to 264 before all is said and done. At first I wasn't sure I'd bother, but then I remembered that I'd probably want to do some battlegrounds on the way to 85 and quest upgrades are not going to have resilience on them, so this PVP set might come in handy for a while to come, up until the crafted 85ish set at least.

According to current plans, which are not written in stone, that will not work. You can still keep your set for it's cosmetic/vanity value.

Resil gets nerfed at level 81. And the average HP pool at level 81 with cata blue gear will probably be about double of what you get right now.

So you'll just have to do it the way we used to do it when resil didn't exist. Balance durability with dps trough trial and error. In other words, stack stamina and ninja a tanking trinket (not an avoidance trinket, just one of those that give stamina and abosrbs).

Not really true, TBH, especially the part about doubling the HP pool by 81 (I think you meant 85).

Resilience doesn't get nerfed. It's the same process as 70-80, though there's more of a curve. I'd say probably 3000 resil will be the equivalent of 1000-1300 at the moment, where 1000-1200 resil is about what 400-500 resil was in TBC.

At 81, especially if you have PvP gear, I wouldn't expect to see many upgrades from Relentless and Wrathful gear. That'll probably come at 82-83 for those of us that are PvP geared, and 83-84 for those in ICC 25 man gear.

I suspect even 80-82 will feel like a long stretch, time-wise, so it will still probably be somewhat worth it to upgrade now, if I haven't got anything better to do. I'm learning my new spec(s) anyway and battlegrounds are the best place to do it.

Correct me if I'm wrong... I thought the last buff to resil only applies to chars of level 80 and below. If that is so, then by the time you get to level 81 your resil is the same one you knew on patch day.

As for the large HP pools, I'm not sure how much larger, I'm just guessing, but my guess is that for things to work according to description by level 81, then by level 81 hp pools would have to be around 50K+.

It certainly wasn't in the beta, but there is enough content for them to increase the required XP. I haven't read anything either way.
