BlizzCon info.Follow

#1 Nov 07 2014 at 10:38 PM Rating: Good
I bought the virtual ticket. BlizzCon day 1 is over. I only got to watch the closing ( art and costume contest) part live. As I only play WoW and D3, I figure I'd watch some of today's stuff before hitting the sack.
So why not share some info, if this info isn't already known (it is new to me):

Gear related:
-Reforging is taken out (I knew this from update).
-Secondary stats (Haste, MAster, Crit, Multi-hit) are now gained from Cooking, Gems and Enchants. Gems are now a bonus and slots will not show up on everything. Enchants are only on 3 item (rings, backs, neck)
-Spirit is only found on rings, back, necks.
-If an item drops in raid (Say plate legs), these are Warrior, Pally, and DK. The stats change to who ever (class) puts them on. I found this to be neat, as when I did raid it was not uncommon for us to get gear no one could use.
-Tokens now work like Timeless Island gear. You click on it, you are given gear. No more having to go find the right NPC to use the right token on.
-Change spec? Set gear now changes to (this was big, as 4 of my characters I play as Tank/DPS and HATED trying to gather gear for both spec) what ever spec. 4 set means you have 4 set for every spec.
-New and more ways to get gear to level up. Quest gear (green) can now randomly role rare or epic.
-Gear can drop that is upgrade to itself. **This is also going to be put in D3.** Gives you a reason to keep running raids/older bosses. IE: Weapon drops of Boss A. Down the road, same weapon could drop, but be better stated to what someone already has.

New "stats":
Versatility(Tank and Healer side, tho DPS can use) and Multistrike (Can hit up to 3 more times, DPS side)

No idea when this was live, but hey..I'm not there, but have access to info to share if it isn't known :p

The new loot system is going to be a nightmare.

It is probably the worst part of this expansion.

I decided against buying the Virtual Ticket. Cancelled my account a few days back, so it would have been kind of pointless to blow my money on the FoS/pet now.
As history shows everyone is back at some point, but at least for now I don't feel like picking up WoW again.

What do you guys think about Overwatch? I could not be less ecited. But then I never was into that genre anyway, so that's not surprising.

Everyone takes a break from WoW. I didn't play Cata, and Really have only been ******* around the last 3 weeks in WoW (was playing WildStar). WoW just seems like "home", tho they really need to do more then spell and # squish. Sure oldies would feel "lost", but a change/upgrade to how combat is would be sweet (ie: WildStar and Terra, it was a neat system).

As for Overwatch. I've yet to watch the announcement. I'm not a fan of FPS genre as well. I do find it odd that they canned "Titan" and it was a FPS...and then here they announce this game. Seems like Titan didn't get canned and was done... odd feelings.

Not sure I follow. I kind of like the idea of getting an item and know it will cover me no matter what spec I run. No longer will I have to have 2-3 sets of gear, now I can just have 2 (PvE and PvP).

There was a Q&A at the end of the video I watched, and a raid leader did ask if something can be added to the token that will notify the Loot Master if the item will be normal, warforged (have gem slot) or be "special" then the normal token. That way they would know who to give the better token to in raid. The guys up there didn't say yes and they didn't say no, but I took it they want to get away from Mico Managing teams.

Turn on personal loot problem fixed.

Edit: Ill elaborate. If your already in a hardcore raiding guild with a loot system(Dkp) nothing should change. If nothing else it should prevent people from saving up because they never see gear they can roll on. The first week I could see being sketchy but after that things should be fine. If your in a loot council type guild Now you can just make a list of people and go down and check off as gear types (plate/mail/cloth/Leather) drop. After 2-3 months when everyone only looking for certain slot upgrades then I could see it being a little sketchy.

Otherwise you could just toss on personal loot, then Blizzards RNG will decide for you. Which would probably be fine for casual guilds.

Well, there are two problems,

1) as a Holy Paladin I am going to be competing with Warriors and Ret dps for gear, as we have the same focus on secondary stats. If I decide to do a crit build I would be fighting for plate from DK's. Think about that across a 20 man raid in Mythic for all classes now. To be fair, our council runs a loot mod which will determine which person is it is a biggest upgrade based on ilvl and stat priority for the class, but its a headache for doling out loot.

2) Secondly, I will no have to worry about the randomness of loot. Warforged, gem slots, etc. Just complicates matters.

Warlords of loot drama and never getting BiS.

Ok I can see the randomness being a slight pain. But the first part, yes your completing with other players but your also getting more chances. No more that one boss never dropping int legs you need, now when any plate drops you can get int legs.

Honestly (after thinking about it) I think caster plate is the ONLY spec that's negatively affected. Every other armor type has 2-3 specs that need different stats. So yes I can see it being a pain for you (and your guilds loot council)

That won't really be the case. There are going to be legplates which I wouldn't even consider due to spread of secondary stats. For the stats I do want I still have 2 classes who are just as hungry for it as I am. So my choices for gearing are no larger or smaller than before, however the competition has increased.

The issue effects cloth, leather and mail to the same degree.

Really, the more you look at the angles of how the new loot system works, you realize the issues. Honestly, the competition on gear is an inconvenience but where things really get messy is the randomness of gems, wf & tertiary stats. Loot is going to be prickly. My current guild has a lot of officers & guild masters from other guilds in it and I think we all had a collective moment of "jesus, this is going to be a mess" when we read about it. For guilds who are working Heroic or else who will stall early to mid way through mythic I can see them having the largest challenge. They will have a large enough spread in skill (they always do), where you will have people putting their name in for all types of gear, even if it has horrific secondary stats for them. If the officer core isn't smart enough to know where the loot should go you might see items wasted on the wrong class, and then have to deal with players in their raid who are smart enough to realize it was a poor choice.

But your forgetting you can reroll gear anytime with crafted tokens. So if you get crap stats you can just pop a reroll and hope for the best.

I don't remember who said it, but one of the Twitter accounts I visited tonight said something about Overwatch literally being a stripped down Titan. Gimme a sec, I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: It was Jason Schreier who said it. He has an article linked, but I don't visit Kotaku so couldn't tell you what it says exactly.

Edit2: An Incgamers article says that they just had a bunch of shared elements, according to Blizz. I believe that just as much as when Blizzard tells me something is coming out soon.

I did get around to watching the Overwatch segment. It is FPS + MOBA. I think Smite is a current game that is similar.
I may try it out as they (blizz) said there was more then just the point and shot play style. Seems to be 3 roles: Tank, DPS, and Heals. They had 12 characters there are Blizzcon (google around and you will find the "intro" vids for each 12), with there supposedly being many many more.

Four, actually. Offensive, defensive, tank and support.

Ok I thought they were reroll tokens for everything. I think Blizz should make one for dropped epics. Because at it sits I agree with you its a pain and stupid.

Oh well, guilds will have to deal with randoms rolling need and putting their name in for all loot, regardless of whether secondary stats are good for them or not. Hunter Loot 2.0 imo. Not end of the world, but there will be loot drama and tears until people get used to it.
