Not that it should be a surprise. Season 15 end has been announced and it puts it one month prior to WoD release, which is normal.

Make certain you get your Challenge Modes, Proving Ground and Brawler Guild stuff done. It is now or never as they become FoS.

I'm finished with Challenge Modes and Brawlers Guld. Have some of the Proving Ground achievements but won't try for the ones I'm missing. The only thing I'm still trying to get is the 27 Conquest Points for season 15.

The seasonal PvP achievements will becoming FoS with 6.0 as well as the 4 different Garrosh kills on nHC and HC and the Ra-den "noone is allowed to die" achievement. I think that about covers it.

I hope the FoS tab will be improved. Even a slacker like me is going to have a lot of those after the patch. Some people have more than 100 even now.

The achievements earned in the treasure solo scenario will also become FoS.

I'm starting to wonder if they are overdoing it with all the retired achievements...

Anyone know if the MoP Challenge Mode rewards (transmogs) will be available in WoD?

Sounds like they are going away except for those characters who already earned them.

I did proven healer, I don't care to do the rest.
Brawlers guild I got to rank 8 and quit.
CM I am 9/9 on my Paladin.
I haven't pvp'ed, other than the legendary quest, all expansion. Actually I haven't pvp'ed actively since TBC :P

CM gear is gone in WoD, in fact its gone for 6.0 in 2 weeks I believe. My main focus is selling mats and and junk, and gearing up my mage so I can level it after my Paladin. However WoD healing appears like it is going to be bad for different reasons than Cata, which is a bummer. So, who knows Smiley: frown

Anyone on the US servers tested the patch out a bit? I'm eager for anything you may have to report. Smiley: nod

Servers won't be up for another 8 hours (as of this post).

The patch isn't even available to download yet, sadly which is one of the reasons I got up this early in the morning, LOL.

Didn't take mine that long, but then I did it about an hour after I posted the above post.

But then I had everything downloaded except for the 100MB patch that arrived this morning.

Now that I have finally logged in...

1). The new dungeon... seems to use personal loot. So you can't even win items on a greed roll.
2). The new dungeon stops at the 3rd-to-last boss and has no achievements connected with it and is somewhat easy.
3). The new questline with the dark portal is a very short 15min thing that gives you a FoS for completing it. Easy quests, you get a pet and FoS out of it.

Other than that, and the SoO being changed around a little and the raid browser...

6.0.2 = 5.4.8 + item squish/class changes basically in a nutshell.

Was kinda disappointed in the new dungeon, they didn't even really explain it in-game why we'd stop 2 bosses short of clearing the whole thing, or they didn't seem to anyways.

The new questline was OK but I felt they could have at least handed out an IL530 weapon or something (not quite as good as the 550 drops from the new dungeon) or something beyond a pet, but meh. Whatever, I suppose.

I don't really see this keeping people interested for a month unless they really really want a Garrosh kill/heirloom if they didn't already have one.

26 GB remaining...

The patch itself is larger than my entire WoW folder pre-patch. Now, I've played the beta, and the changes aren't that extensive. I'm having trouble seeing why they couldn't reuse some of the old files. Looks like they decided to just push out a copy of a WoW folder with the patch already installed. There is no way they updated every single file in the directory, because I'm still seeing 4-polygon trees in the beta.

Edit 1: What's a FoS? Because in my World of Warcraft acronym guide, FoS is The Forge of Souls, as in the 5-man dungeon released near the end of The Lich King expansion. Does FoS mean something else these days?

Edit 2: May have been a corruption issue, which is why the download was so large. Now it restarted the Battle.net client and the download says 8 GB, which seems more reasonable.

It's not a corruption issue. This patch converted all the game files (all of them) from .MPQ to the new .CASC format. That required practically redownloading the entire game, and was a very large part of why this patch was so damn big.

Did all of you had to download as much as Mazra? My download was around 8 GB and the launcher tells me WoW is 6.0.2. I can't test it yet since European servers are down for at least another few hours.

As an aside, it's nice to see WoW players retained their objectivitiy when it comes to small-ish bugs and annoyances.

Okay I did the quests and was awarded with a pet and a FoS. Which is nice. The quests were kind of a pain in the behind thanks to my rather crowded server but that was to be expected.

Overall I like the improvements to the interface (as far as I noticed them). Wondering why the pet collection achievements are not in the Collectible category and some other minor things. Got the new drake achievement (yay) and the Chopper. Legacy should be a subcategory of FoS. But oh well.

Just my random thoughts so far.

Quest was short and meh. I agree the quests in Blasted Lands lacked any form of grandeur just felt like hes like 6 normal quests here's your pet/title/achieve now go away. I haven't run UBRS yet because I didnt want to hassle with it today. I hear some people saying Bliz left in lvl 101 mobs that you can pull dropping ilvl 580 greens, but I just saw a mention of it on o-boards, so take it with a grain of salt. Otherwise classes seem to be all over the place. Some people are saying its the bads showing out, others say its mechanics etc. Yesterday on Timeless Isle I could pull 2 elites at once and solo them today I feel lucky if I can finish one.

My wife was leveling monk yesterday(86) and having a blast today shes complaining its taking her 2-3 times as long to kill one mob and now it feels like a chore and not fun at all. My rogue seems more powerful. I'm hearing lots of stories that rogues can destroy people in pvp in a 4 second stun, even tanks. I havent had much of a chance to check my other toons, over the weekend I finished Hunter to 90, and got Priest from 83~86. Priest feels a little* bit weaker, they seemed to trim some spells from Shadow I don't think they should have, while not adding anything.

They backed off on allowing you to kill Ordos without a cloak, still teleports you back.

This morning I was fine with the patch but the more I let it sink in I feel they went to far. I mean 1.7k overall stats down to 70? Most armor is only difference of 1 stat increase. And this is just at 90 so pretty gear below that has to look terrible, kind of destroys the power fantasy aspect of leveling. I think they could have left it in the low hundreds and just slowed the gear going forward from large jumps.

One QoL change thats sweet as all hell is regents stacking to 200, and regents tab in your bank that the game treats as on you. Also the ability to transfer all regents with one click is nice.

I agree the quests in Blasted Lands lacked any form of grandeur just felt like hes like 6 normal quests here's your pet/title/achieve now go away. I haven't run UBRS yet because I didn't want to hassle hear some people saying Bliz left in lvl 101 mobs that you can pull dropping ilvl 580 greens, but i just saw a mention of it. Well, to be fair, I don't count being wholly unable to do entire leveling dungeons as "small-ish bugs".

And it isn't isolated to just a few dungeons, either. I've seen reports of rares (especially Warscouts) being nearly impossible to solo when they were easily solo'd before.

They spent months going "If you can do it now, you can do it after squish!" (pp)

And that just isn't panning out very well.

I think this, combined with other LOL-worthy stuff (580+ hunters struggling to keep up with 540 casters on DPS meters, lolwut?) really makes it hard for people to have patience with Blizz as some of this stuff has gone through two testing cycles (Beta and PTR) and still somehow made it to Live.

I think it is yet again another "Maybe we bit off more than we can chew" from the WoW Devs where they start with huge ideas and then take a scalpel to it and then end up releasing a mess on patch day when they couldn't handle what they didn't scrape off prior to PTR.

They knew Stat Squish was going to be a thing, they knew they wanted to make a standardized growth by level system... before 5.0. They should have had a small team designing these numbers and going through rigorous testing during the entire expansion instead of deciding to start it sometime around the 5.4.x release. That way, it would have been ready-to-go before 5.4 even came out.

They knew the 0-85 numbers they wanted before MoP even came out, because they tried to pitch the Stat Squish to us before. They shoulda been on this two years+ ago.

Oh I agree insofar that the balance at this moment is far from perfect, in some areas of the game even far from good. But some of the responses in the thread I linked are so aggressive and full of spite, it's just completely disproportionate to the problems they are complaining about. Not that surprising since this are the o-boards after all.

The number of issues may be high and a bit embarassing for a company of Blizzards status but going into berserker rage isn't an adequate response, in my opinion.

Oh, I agree, nerdraging is not going to fix the problem.

But I can't wholly blame the nerdragers either. This is embarassing for a company of Blizzard's size and status. You usually see this kind of thing with indie developers and smaller games, not a huge behemoth like Blizzard.

If freaking Blizzard doesn't have the resources or the manpower to get this done right, then who does?

Seems like they are trying to adress the numerous bugs and other issues 6.0.2 brought us.

Might take a few more rounds of hotfixes before everything is in order but I find it reassuring how fast they are responding.

Almost seems like Live is the new PTR.

I hate to say something like that, but releasing that many bugs where you have craploads of hotfixes several times a day almost makes me think this should have stewed on PTR for a bit longer if it weren't the Pre-Expansion patch.

That's the problem with setting up huge hype trains instead of continuing to test until you know it is ready, rather than changing Live to PTR2; once you slap the all-mighty "Release Date" on an expansion, you're locked into it no matter how incomplete or buggy it is and you have to rush to meet that deadline (which is a large contributing factor of bugs/oversights in the first friggin place).

But then I suppose it isn't really the developers' fault when players are screaming "WHEN!? WHEN!? WHEN!?" every few hours after they announce something.

Aside from a single rollback while I was fighting the last boss in a dungeon, I haven't encountered any bugs yet.
