It's a BS PR move, and it's one I'd expect from SE or EA,

Dunno what you have against SE (I never felt like they lied or deceived the players at least not with XI/XIV:ARR.. though XIV 1.0 was a disaster, but the guy behind it stepped down in shame lol), and EA...

EA openly screws their players and doesn't even have the common courtesy to mask it with platitudes. Everybody knows EA is evil, and they don't even try to hide their business practices whatsoever.

And "Oldschool Blizzard"... you're talking about a business model... what, 5+ years ago? Business changes over the years. We don't do business the same way we did business back then. A company has to either adapt or go out of business. You might not like their sugar-coating PR stuff, but apparently they're doing it for a reason. YOU might be smart enough to want them to tell it like it is, but apparently millions of others aren't.

I can sit here and say that Commercials don't make me buy stuff I wouldn't buy otherwise... but yet advertisers pay BILLIONS of dollars in advertisement space/time. They wouldn't do that if they didn't have confidence in its effectiveness. Pepsi blows MILLIONS of dollars in advertisement, despite the fact they have some of THE most popular soft drinks around, which inflates the price of the drinks but yet doesn't make them any extra money (I read somewhere they could sell 20oz bottles for 50 cents and still make a profit if they'd ditch their advertising campaigns). But yet they blow so much in advertising because they have data that it works.

Same goes for Blizzard. They obviously have confidence that this PR stuff does more help than harm. Otherwise, they wouldn't have so many PR reps posting stuff to forums and twitter constantly.
