I thought we was going to see stats on WOD gear with this post. Kind of let down.

After Item Squish, it sounds like WoD will be like Cataclysm is today, with 30k health pools on DPS at Lv90 (kinda like how Wrath-Early Cata 80s had 30k-ish health).

Psst, Mazra. Check out the health of Mionelol at the beginning of this video.

On the topic of item squish I wonder how that will work with soloing old raids. Won't that make it so we could solo old raids much earlier?

maybe they squish the baddies too? lower the HPs, lower the amount of damage a boss does. which im sure they have done on most raids/dungeons already.

Yeah they are going to do that. What I am referring to is the scaling between expansions. Currently you need quite a number of iLevel difference between you and the raid you want to do. Come WoD the scaling will be much smaller between expansions. Maybe I am thinking about it too much and requires testing on the beta to be certain.

They talked about applying multipliers to old raids, they said "For example, if you're 10+ levels over the raid, then maybe you do 10x damage and they deal 10% damage to you."

Rough napkin math obviously, but you get the idea.

Hmm intriguing. Wonder how that will affect % based attacks.

Probably applied after the damage?

Example, boss does attack that does 50% of your health in damage and you're 10 levels over the raid.

You have 30k.

You should take 15k (50%), but the multiplier says you take 10% damage which means you should take 1,500 damage from that attack instead.

I'm actually surprised it's only going as far back as Cata, in terms of relative numbers. I expected them to do Wrath or BC level. If they make the items about Cata level at level 100, it's not long before we are in the same problem all over again.

They wouldn't have to squish the entire thing all over again, though.

Let's say after THIS squish, it looks like this:

1-80 = Old Vanilla
80-85: Old Outland
85-90: Old Wrath
90-100: Old Cataclysm

Now, let's say the expansion AFTER WoD comes out, it would look like this:

90-100: Old Cataclysm
100-110: Old MoP

We need a new squish! Right?

Well....

1-85 could stay the same, and the new squish would be for 85-110, where 110 is about Cataclysm's numbers again. Yes, another squish would be needed, but only the latter two expansions would need squishing.

Sure we'd have to squish every 2 expansions, but it'd be a lot less drastic of a squish than the first one.
