After over a year layoff from WoW I've decided to return and resume my adventures. Haven't yet purchased MoP but attempted to use scrolll of resurection sent to me months ago to no avail. Don't know why but, no biggie. Added time to account, decided to reinstall the game and logged in for a looky, right away I noticed my addons weren't working. Updated them through curse and logged in again. Still no dice. I've opened up my wow addon folder and there are none there from curse. I could have sworn curse automatically downloaded them there. Where oh where did they dowload to?

I'm sure my Razor Naga needs an update as well... haven't even begun to dig into that... anyways...

Any helpful advice, clues, tricks, links or any other information would be much appreciated. How do I get these addons to work?

I only use a couple of add-ons, and I don't have the auto-updater. When I download from Curse, I put them right in the add-on folder. When you log into WoW, you might need to go to the add-on section on the character selection screen and enable them.

Not sure if that helps; as said, I only use a couple of add-ons.

If possible, try to manually update your addons and see if that helps. Or enable/disable them one at a time to see if one is causing an issue with the rest.

You sure you're putting the add-ons in the right folder? WoW - Interface - Add-Ons?

The screen for "enabling add-ons" is in the lower left-hand corner of your character select screen.

Also, make sure that you're using the non-zipped folders. You want to actual file out of the zipped addon folder.

I have, occasionally, had to reboot after updating my addons, before logging into the game.

Think curse just went screwy on me and wasn't downloading and putting them in the correct folder as mentioned. Switched to wowmatrix instead and that seems to be working ok. Although I liked the way curse looked and was set up for searching addons. Thanks for the replies.

I don't know if this is the right place, if not I would appreciate someone to direct me. I am thinking about using an addon for the first time. Mainly I would like the one that gives an loc or I can type in an loc and get directions...could someone point me to what is available and make suggestions as to which is best?

Any and all help would be appreciated

Thank you

Quests already point you in the right direction now so there is no need for an addon to take care of that. If you want something that you can type in <Slave Pens> and it will show you how to get there I know of no addon like that nor am I sure why someone would want an addon like that. There are a metric ton of information sites that you can go to if you have any questions about the game. Here and here are two sites that are extremely useful when it comes to figuring out information on the game. Plus there is always asking people in the game, as in your guild members.

Edit: Tehe wrong website is wrong. Smiley: blush

If you are wanting a add-on that tells you your current position (and then the use of sites like wowhead that might list a the position of stuff) you are going to want TomTom. It can be DLed at curse.com or wowinterface.com

Should also team it up with a world map addon that supports TomTom

Try Carbonite. But understand that it is a lot more than just a location assist. Personally, I love the various things it gives you. You can read about it here and download it from the link on that page, or from WOW Interface.

It may actually have exactly what you're looking for: "Guide/Hud - The guide is your in-game GPS - it contains the location of every mailbox, trainer, flight master, repair vendor, instance, battle master, etc... if it's in the game it's in the guide. Just click the icon and the HUD navigation arrow will show you the direction, distance and ETA to your target. You can also use it to locate your friends or guild members in a battleground."

By the way, that "HUD navigation arrow" can be moved wherever you want it on the screen, and you don't have to open anything to move it, just click on it and hold and then move it.

I want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions about the question I posted for an loc addon. Even Criminy (sp?), I have to agree with you. I have played MMOG's for years and this is the first time I have even thought of using an addon. Maybe it's my age...(65 and getting younger every day LOL) or my mind...chemo brain can mess you up...ROFL...nawww...I've been a ditz from the gitgo....*GRIN*. I will check each and every suggestion and link everyone has posted. Thank you all
