That's right, step right up ladies and gentlemen! Darkmoon Faire is rolling around again and that means the weekend is almost upon us.

WOW: Time to focus on getting those reputations wrapped up and grinding Justice/Valor points. That means putting time in on my Alliance Shadow Priest since she gets the Human racial bonus for rep and she is also my Tailoring/Enchanting alt. I don't know that I'll get much time for WOW, but if there is spare time to work on other things, I'll see about moving lower level alts towards various milestones.

RL: I'm going to stay quiet and aside from some possible shopping (maybe stockpiling cat food) I'll probably have a quiet evening with Pink this Sunday. I'm still a bit stunned from last week.

Weekday musings: This was the first week of the spring semester here, so I'm getting back into the swing of a rather overloaded schedule. Things are a little easier this semester, so I've had more time to keep up with the various grinds in WOW. It was good to get back to work though and I'm looking forward to classes.

OK, you slackers! Let's hear some goals and see some progress towards tall tales! Smiley: lol Don't forget the Faire is going to be back, that means you'll have a small edge on leveling that alt who has been gathering dust for awhile.

WoW: Continue to investigate if I want to resub. The leveling experience has gotten quite a bit worse since Cata, and I have altitis, so I'm starting to lean towards no. But we'll see.

RL: Blissful nothing.

Other games: Will probably play some Skyrim at some point. And I've been trying out LOTRO and having fun.

RL:

Almost nothing. Have not that much money to spend right now so I'll just stay at home this weekend. Thankfully this situation won't last. I hate being broke.

WoW:

- Since I (finally) got the Eye of Sulfuras on my Warrior I better collect the last missing incredients for the hammer. 41 Arcanite Crystals and 1 Blood of the Mountain to go. Smiley: cool
- Collect some more pets. Sitting at 354 right now.
- Make more gold. Haven't fully recovered from the unfortunate scam I posted about a short while back.
- Maybe kill Elegon HC on Sunday. We're sitting at 3/16 HC now and it would be sweet to kill one more boss before the patch hits.
- Finish some achievements. My goal was to both have at least 80% of all achievements done before 5.2 and to have at least 80% of all achievement points before 5.2. The former I have done but I'm not sure I can fulfill my second goal. Still 106 points missing so I'd have to get 110 points before next Wednesday. We'll see... :)

WoW - about 5k from exalted with flying serpeant and will edge closer to revered with shieldwall. Valor grind as usual, after lunch today should have about 620 valor points, so need the other 380 ... probably will not have a whole lot of time to play this weekend, so will level my priest as I can and clear out a few old instances for grins/gold.

RL - kid free tonight so drinks/dinner/movie with the wife; saturday is step-daughter's baby shower, so have to prepare and decorate for that. After the shower go pick up some fence sections for produce protection in our backyard (dogs trample everything) and then home to relax. Sunday will be the usual quiet day of clearning/wow/couch.

Busy with real life, heading a Ren Faire on Saturday, church on Sunday, and as 5.2 hasn't hit yet I don't feel much of an urge to play WoW. When I do have free-time, I'll be continuing my Fem-Shep Renegade ME2 Insanity run.

Jennifer Hale's voice acting is so much better than Mark Meer's, it's ridiculous. I've been slowly working through a Paragon MShep run (still on ME1), and it's just so jarring to compare the two. It's not even that Meer's acting is bad, it's just that Hale's is so good.

Oh, hey, didn't they just release a new patch for ME3 multiplayer? I'll need to look into that.

Now that's an interesting take, as I thought Hale's voice-acting in ME1 was often pretty poor as a Renegade (her "angry" voice in particular comes out as a silly sounding shouted whisper). I will admit I'm biased though, as I've met Mark Meer at a few 'Cons Smiley: laugh He did the voice of the Architect The Herlad in DA:A! Also, some random Darkspawn.

Oops, meant the Herald, the Darkspawn disciple.

I only ever hear people preferring him for Renegade--I can't comment, because I haven't seen side-by-side comparisons of the two. But I thought Hale pulled off Shepard's badassery extremely well in ME3. I've generally found the Renegade dialog to be worse than the Paragon dialog, though, with both acting and writing.

And like I said, I'm not even saying that Meer is bad, but the overwhelming consensus is that Hale was way better. Meer's voice generally lacks the same diversity and depth of inflection that Hale's has. It sounds more monotone and robotic compared to hers. For the paragon stuff in particular, that tends to be pretty huge. I always felt like Hale's voice actually expressed the fact that Shepard cared. I'm finding that it's not nearly as true with Meer.

Of course, at the end of the day, to each their own.

I just found a side by side comparison of ME2 Renegade voices from the Samara club sequence.

There are times I think Meer does better, but in general I prefer Hale by a huge margin. The part where they're insulting the Krogan, in particular, shows it (1:28). Meer sounds like he's stating a fact. It's fine, not bad. But Hale's acting is actually threatening. It's gentler and softer, which actually makes it feel more threatening. It doesn't feel like false brovado, it feels like she's inviting the Krogan to try something. It's a Black Widow kind of badass.

Meer always just sounds so monotone. There's never any variation in his voices, so it never feels like the character is actually reacting to a situation.

WoW - not really sure. My enthusiasm has been waning of late. Starting to get the unsub feeling I had just before Pandaria launch. Maybe level the DK a little. Get some easy DMF skill points. Try for the DMF tamer pet.

Other - Minecraft it up a bit. Work on some nether transportation. Go diamond hunting. Maybe start an iron golem farm.

RL - Happy birthday to me today. Dinner with parents tomorrow. Mmmm, lasagna. Hockey Sunday. Had a goal last week...I'll see if I can keep my scoring streak alive (beyond 1 game, lol).

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Game mixed w/RL: The usual dailies, working on profs, faire stuff. Not sure I'll be on tomorrow at all, since I've been told we have shopping to do. Not a clue.
The thought of doing absolutely nothing has a certain attraction.
