However, I was having a discussion with my best friend (who is an officer in our guild) last night about the former GM. The guy has been offline since... well, at least since MoP. He was kind of the glue that held the guild together; since he's been gone we're down to about 6 full time members. We haven't done any guild raiding, and only a few guild dungeons (and no challenges). Our old GM was the head of recruiting and planning strategies, and without him we're reduced to being a pretty casual level 25 guild. Most of us have alts in other guilds that we play almost as much as our mains!
So I spoke with my buddy and we decided to see if we could get in touch with him IRL. Turns out he'd had terrible money and employment-seeking issues; he's in his 40s and living with his elderly parents. Another officer paid for his last year of WoW, and now he refuses to accept the charity any more. It kinda sucks, but it sorta puts the death-knell on our guild, as none of us want (or are able) to fill his shoes
