World of Warcraft turns eight on November 23, and we'd like to thank our amazing community for joining us in celebrating eight epic years of adventure. To celebrate, players who log in to World of Warcraft between November 18 and December 1 will receive a unique Feat of Strength achievement and Celebration Package item. Using your item will kick off the celebrations by shooting off fireworks*, applying a (cosmetic only) tabard to your character, and granting an 8% bonus to experience and reputation gains from any enemies defeated while active.

We look forward to another year of adventures ahead and many more to come!

*Use fireworks responsibly. Harmful or fatal if swallowed. If fireworks get in eyes, rinse in muddy pond water for 20 minutes, /dance, and contact your nearest Mistweaver, Priest, Shaman, Druid, or Paladin.

A tabard? That's it? Disappointing.

Well, technically it gives an exp and rep boost too*

*Note: The rep bonus applies only to KILLS that give exp. I assume the exp bonus does the same.

Honestly, it was worth it to me for the FoS and the help in grinding old world reputations like Hydraxian and Ashtongue. Plus the item is reusable for the next 2 weeks.

Isn't the rep/xp boost temporary like that other event where you used an item to get a buff for the duration of the celebration?

Wow, 8 years.
It's hard for me not to think about where I was, and who I was, when I first started playing and who I am today.
...
has it been that long...

The FoS is nice. The rest is rather meh. Don't need it for anything. But unlike some people on the o-boards it doesn't bother me. The things WoW players rage about...Smiley: lol

Edit to add: I really like the video.

Illidan lives!

Quote:
At the Blizzcon 2011 World of Warcraft Open Q&A panel, Metzen was again asked about reviving Illidan. He asked the crowd if it was something they would like to see, the crowd exploded and cheered in response, and he said they would work on it. He later revisited the topic during the World of Warcraft Lore Q&A panel, after being asked about the dead bodies of important villains. Metzen indicated that based on fan reaction they would most likely bring Illidan back, and would have to decide on a way to revive him, noting that his corpse would be very significant.

Don't dare say anything else. Arthas was redeemed and Illidan will be as well. Black Temple was merely a setback.

If the next expansion is what I think it is: a return of the Burning Legion (Burning Crusade 2.0). Then bringing a redeemed Illidan back to fight them might very well be a possibility, and an interesting lore twist.

As for Arthas... we all know the frozen throne isn't permanent. I mean come on. The stuck a BURNING GUY inside a GIANT ICE CUBE. Need I say more? I could so see a corrupted Bolvar bringing back Arthas as payback for all the suffering he did... and even more interesting would be if the Scarlet Whatever was involved. You know they are crazy enough to want to bring Arthas back to make him suffer.

EDIT: And going back to the Burning Legion... we all know Blizzard is just waiting to put Demon Hunters as a "hero class" in the game. Illidan would be a fun new Thassarian.

Speaking of Thassarian I wonder if Blizzard is going to let the bromance between him and Koltira die.Smiley: frown

If they put Demon Hunters in the game, I will resubscribe and never quit. Ever.

The Monk is meh. Running on my 10-day trial of MoP that I was granted for some reason. Sure, I kinda like being a ninja and stuff, but a Demon Hunter? Sold!

I'm digging the monk. It gets better once you get your "specialization training" and the skills really start behaving like they should.

The Monk is a late bloomer, that's for sure. It's borderline idiotic that Windwalkers don't get their bread and butter ability, Rising Sun Kick, until level 56. You deal more damage as Brewmaster until that level simply because the Brewmaster has more AOE available early on.

I do love that I can dual-wield tank, though. It's something I sorely miss on my Death Knight (RIP Frost tanking). And I love the emphasis on self-healing and staggering damage. Being able to absorb 20-50% of incoming damage and spreading it out over 10 seconds is amazing, having previously tanked as a Bear where it was dodge or die.
