Dual Specialization Oops - Help pleaseFollow

#1 Oct 27 2012 at 9:25 PM Rating: Decent
Greetings, all.

I took my first steps into dual specialization, and immediately created a problem. When I selected my new specialization, I accidentally selected the same specialization I already had. After several exchanges with a GM trying to undue my mistake, I got a message that they couldn't assist with game content and told me to go to one of the forums for assistance. I took that to mean that there was some quest or other game mechanic that would allow me to delete/change my second specialization. I haven't been able to find one.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Zugash

Doesn't the Class Trainer allow you to change your current specialization?

Go to a major city, ask a guard where the Class Trainer is, make sure you change specs to the spec you wish to re-do, and then talk to the Class Trainer.

There should be an option to ask him to change your current class specialization.

You'll probably have to pay some small fee (in Cataclysm it was like 20-30g for a Level 85).

I haven't had to do a respec in MoP, but try visiting your trainer. I think you should still be able to pay to respec, but it will cost you a bit of gold. Make sure that the spec you want to change is the active one; it sounds like you'd want to have your second (duplicate) spec active. Pay the fee, change the spec, double check before telling your trainer that's really the one you want, profit. Smiley: wink

I believe class trainers were taken out, haven't really checked though. However I will do my best to explain and maybe it'll help others as well

I will try to explain as best I can in a step by step format

1. Find an inscription trainer and look for inscription regent vendor somewhere near him.
2. Purchase tome of clear mind
3. Open your talents page and select the tree you'd like to redo
4. Click on the talent you want to have on the appropriate tier.
5. You will be asked if you'd like to use up your tome. Obviously yes.
6. Done

You will need a tome for each talent you're redoing. I believe at level 30 you open up dual specialization so you should have 2 tiers unlocked, therefore to respec both tiers you'd need 2 tomes - at level 90 you'd need 6 for all tiers.

I recently had to repsec a few talents and had a similar issue. I hope this helps if you can't find class trainers or they don't allow it for some reason.

-good luck

I can verify that you can go to a trainer to get all of your talents reset or you can choose to pick a different specialization. That said if you just messed up in one spot it is much cheaper to just buy one of three reagents to reset a single talent. Vanishing Powder (1-80), Dust of Disappearance (81-85), and Tome of the Clear Mind (86-90), all of which can be bought at the Inscription supply vendor. Ask a guard they will point you in the right direction.

That said the only thing you need to do is talk to a class trainer, specifically your class, and choose to reset your talent specialization. Again, ask a guard and they will point you in the right direction.

Confirmed - as of MoP, all a Class Trainer can be used for is to reset:
1) a whole specc.; Talent choice, talents and Glyphs
2) all the Talents within a specc.; keep specc choice, but ALL Talents cleared (and only way to reset a Talent glitch)
3) all the Glyphs within a specc.; as 2) above, but ALL Glyphs cleared

Inscription reagents will only allow for Glyph glitches, but anything else is within the remit of a Class Trainer.

Wrong. Inscription reagents are also used to change talents within a specialization. I frequently switch between two talents on my paladin and can do it anywhere as long as I have a Tome of Clear Mind.

More simply, I'd say talk to the guy you got the dual-spec from. Respec the spec you just specced into a spec you'd like to spec.
