It's not psychotic, it is simply a very poor attempt at humour. As explained in a recent article on Cracked, many people resort to ultraviolent language in a misguided attempt to amuse people. As you are most likely completely unaware, a generally accepted theory of humour is that it can be derived from subverted expectations, and people use the violent imagery in an otherwise peaceful environment in order to surprise and shock. It is simple and childish, but above all, completely harmless.
I myself regularly tell people to "go die in a fire" but I very rarely, if ever, actually set people on fire.
