Starter Shattath PortsFollow

#1 Oct 02 2012 at 1:50 AM Rating: Decent
As Blizzard's Battle.net forums won't let a starter acct post in their realm forum and has a strict no-RAF/RATS policy in the only forum us starters *can* post in (New Player Help & Guides), and I got growled at for trying to ask this on the Wowhead forums.... I hope this won't get locked or anything; it would even be nice to see someone try to organize starter acct player requests for these ports as I'd expect a fair demand for this specific request ought to exist.
Now that I've got that out, on to the actual purpose of the thread:

My primary character, Daudiam, is a lvl 20 Worgen Subtlety Rogue in the Bladefist Realm, spending most of his time in Ironforge. I really want to get a port to Shattath, but everyone's been ignoring me when I try asking for help around the bank and auction areas. Would anyone be willing to provide such a port? Granted, starters can't do the normal trade methods, and can't group with anyone above lvl 20, but I might be willing to help or group with a twink if you have such at some point....

Please feel free to choose any contact method if you're willing to help: post, PM, or pst. I also have an email established just for responses but as this forum has a PM system I'll just rely on that instead....

The odds that anyone who posts here has an appropriate level mage on your realm are probably pretty low. Not impossible, but low.

Edit: Also, if this looks like getting growled at to you, I think I just growled at you. My bad.
Edit2: Holy crap. Their Scroll of Resurrection thread is bigger than the BDT. Smiley: eek

Statement of slim odds? No big deal.
Locking it and telling me to post somewhere I cant? Annoying, at best.
Hence coming here.

Why do you want to go to Shatt if you just have a starter account? Sure it is pretty neat but there is nothing for a level 20 to do.

That said, you will find our population here to be spread out among servers. The likelihood of finding someone that can port you in this forum is extremely slim, let alone they play a mage. Have you tried offering mages gold for the portal? I find that giving them some gold for a port will get you there quicker than expecting them to do it for free.

Can you even trade gold on a starter account?

Now that you mention it, no you cannot. Hmm guess he is either going to have to wait for a person to take pity on him or just start a subscription then. Smiley: tongue

While you're waiting, I must admit I'm curious about the need to get to Shattrath. Is there something there that makes the trip worth going, or do you just like the city?

I don't know anything about starter accounts. But not being able to group with anyone above L20? How does a mage get a Shatt port before L20? I'm not even sure you can get a Darn port that early, can you?

What am I missing here?

Could a warlock summon him or do warlocks get the summon spell after level 20? A summon stone would work too I guess. In any case it would take a lot of work from someone to get the OP to Shattrah where, honestly, he is not going to be able to do a thing except see a big empty place. A little nostalgic even.

Just a guess...

I remember seeing videos of people on trial accounts soloing baddies in Zangarmarsh.

I.. don't understand.

how would a level 20 character go about soloing a level 60 mob?

is there some trick mechanism?

1. Get game card.
2. Use time in game to see additional content.
3. Repeat as necessary for amusement.

I'm assuming Starter Account characters can enter the Dark Portal? If so, go to the Mage Quarter of whatever city you're in. There should be a portal to the Dark Portal. Once you're in Outland, it's just a matter of dodging enemies while you run through Hellfire Peninsula to Zangarmarsh, south to Terrokar Forest and west to Shattrath.

Note: You may die a lot.

I think you have to be 57 or 58 to enter any of the portals to outland? I could be mistaken though. As a starter account I don't think you can do anything but /say as far as communication goes.

Yep you have to be 58 to take the portal in Blasted Lands. Also in order to do the quests for the cake recipie you would need to be able to kill things, which at level 20 is impossible. Here is a quote from Wowpedia.
Quote:
Each day, The Rokk offers one of four level 70 daily cooking quests. Each quest requires a minimum Cooking skill of 275, and two require flying

You are better off going to Dalaran (if even possible) and doing the dailies there. While you are going to have to buy some of the ingredients off the AH at least you will be able to do most of the dailies there.
Never mind you have to be level 70 to do the dailies there.

Edit: Honestly you are not going to be able to get that recipe unless you upgrade your account.
