Well, I bit the bullet and got MoP. It was a close call. I almost logged in Monday night to say "bye" to guildies. Instead, I waited until Tuesday, had a couple beers, and said "***** it", and bought MoP. Spent the first couple hours without any real plan, just paying for professions and taking a look around. I decided I'm not going to rush to 90. It'll happen when it happens, which might be a bit slower than I thought because...

Next thing I know, I decided to check out the pet battle stuff. (I've always been a bit of a collector. I got over 150 pets about a month or so before the 5.0 patch hit.) Well, sure as ****, I got hooked on the pet battles. My only problem is the interface seems a bit clunky and needs some more refinement...

So, after a little Googling and not really seeing much, I thought I'd ask here. Does anyone have any good recommendations for pet battle add-ons? Something to organize teams, sort abilities, levels...that sort of thing.

It's funny, the thing I thought I might not be interested in grabbed me like a sweaty shirt on a humid day.

For refining the interface (sorting, filtering, etc), check out PetJournal Enhanced: http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/pet-journal-enhanced For seeing the rarity of a pet before trapping it, use Pet Battle Quality Glow: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info21362-PetBattleQualityGlowMoP.html And Pet Battle Teams http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info21343-PetBattleTeams.html allows you to create and easily switch between teams.

Seems that everyone loves the pet battles. This is the first time, in my memory, of everyone loving something Blizzard has done in regards to WoW. Whomever came up with the idea needs a raise.

That would be the guy at Nintendo.

Guess I need to see what all this fuss about pet battles is about this weekend.

Ha ha, yeah. Pet battles are way more fun than I was expecting. I was expecting a crappy pokemon rip off but what I got was a totally awesome pokemon rip off.

Anyway, thanks. Those addons should help a lot. Especially the pet journal one.

Pet Battle Quality Glow doesn't seem to be on curse yet, so it's not available if you use curse exclusively, but WoW Insider gave out a macro that you can keybind and use that will give the same information:
Quote:
/run for i=1,C_PetBattles.GetNumPets(2) do SELECTED_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(C_PetBattles.GetName(2,i).." - ".._G["BATTLE_PET_BREED_QUALITY"..C_PetBattles.GetBreedQuality(2,i)]) end

I was really surprised by pet battles. I was really meh going in, but it's a fun little feature, very well-integrated with the world and exploring, and it fills in a niche. I play soccer a couple of nights a week, and a lot of the time I get home late enough that most of my guildies have logged off, kind of unfocused, and not really knowing how much time I'll have before I crash. Both pet battles and scenarios are things that hand out WoW Skinner pellets but are short, ad-hoc, and don't require either organization or a big time commitment.

Basically, in MoP there's something to do that keeps you in the world and allows you to make progress to some sort of goal, no matter how much or how little time/attention/etc. you have. Heck, with Archaeology, you don't even have to be at the computer most of the time.
