It's been a while since I watched BSG and I don't think I ever finished the series. As much as I like sci-fi, it started to get a little weird with the hallucinations and religious stuff.

I thought that was one of the best parts of the series. The realism of the characters always fascinated me (and via that, religion).

While many people criticized the ending of BSG I didn't think it was so bad. Sure there were some loose-ish ends (for example Kara Thrace) but all in all it was a satisfying experience.

@Theo: Your Firefly remark made me smile but since I didn't have anything to say at that moment other than "LOL Jayne" it would have been rather pointless.

Since we're talking Sci-Fi, are there any good shows you people can point me to? Other than BSG and Firefly I have only watched Babylon 5 and that last one more for nostalgias sake than anything other. I absolutely don't like Star Trek or Stargate so I think there is not much left, sadly.

Farscape. Loved that show. My sister had it on DVDs, and took it with her when she moved to Maryland. Smiley: glare

I thought the end of BSG was pretty good, frankly. A lot better than a lot of other shows I've seen.

Pretty much what I thought was that Starbuck was an angel (i.e. angel-Baltar and angel-Six) given physical form. She "died" when her viper blew up, but God created a new viper and body for her to come back in. When her job was done (helping the fleet find the new Earth), she knew her physical body would cease to exist (hence her saying to Anders "see you on the other side"). She said goodbye to Apollo and then vanished.

Thanks for recognizing my Firefly comment, btw. Too few people have seen that show.

Most of the sic-fi I watch is generally anime, since the Japanese don't have a cultural stigma against producing it and being a fan of it. Or if they do, it's not readily apparent.

That's what most of the people I know think about it too. It just reeks a bit of something they came up with in the last second because this whole Angel-theme did not seem very well connected to the rest of the story. For me that is.

I have to admit, I watched Firefly + Serenity just a few months ago because it took me a long long time to notice this jewel. The TV show is pretty amazing and the movie was even better. Really a shame what FOX pulled on that series.

I've watched Neon Genesis Evangelion and Code Geass. They are sort-of Sci-Fi but not for realz. If you could point out one or two good shows in that corner that would be very nice. Smiley: smile
[Note: While I did enjoy Code Geass, NGE was more of a nostalgia thing too, like Babylon 5. I didn't regret watching it, but it has some serious flaws.]

@Vorkosigan: Thanks!. The IMDB reviews sound pretty promising. Will definitely look into that.

I don't know, I thought the angel theme was there from the beginning. Baltar was seeing his angel-Six if not in the first episode, then definitely in "33." Then the first we see of Caprica-Six, she's seeing angel-Baltar right after she's resurrected. And there were definite references throughout the series, like when Baltar was scared about the Olympic Carrier and Apollo shot it down.

Yeah, Firefly is one of my favorite shows for the same reason that Robert Downey Jr. is one of my favorite actors: sarcasm and quick wit.

If you haven't seen it, check out Archer (it riffs on James Bond and other spy movies). Not sic-fi at all, but it's literally one of the funniest shows I've seen.

My nephew showed me the first episode and I was hooked from there. The entire cast is funny as hell and very adult rated humor. I mean come on, when one of the cast loves being NSFWchokedNSFW, how can you not like it?

Thanks. :)
Might take me a bit till I start watching it, since I want to finish some other shows first, but I won't forget it.

I was a little bummed when Blizz took the Firefly-related flavor text off the firefly pet from Zangarmarsh.
