Cataclysm started out great. I really liked T11. It sort of went downhill in raiding for me at that point, but the features were great and so was the 1-60 revamp. MoP has such beautiful scenery though and I can't wait to explore it on a ground mount. I can't wait for the battles between the alliance and the horde to ensue. The raids look very polished and I welcome once again the splitting of the raids into 3 smaller encounters. With Ghostcrawler hinting at another large scale raid like Ulduar and Sunwell, I look forward to that as well. Scenarios are cool, can't complain about stuff to do with a couple DPS buds. Rolling a pandaren monk from level 1 at some point will be very fun as well. wPvP battles while leveling my rogue to 90 first will be awesome. I have a feeling that this will be a great expansion through and through. I understand why people are a bit weary after the teleportation fest that was the last 2/3 of Cataclysm, but knowing that it went that way because all resources were pumped into MoP puts me at ease.

This thread really has no point other than to express my long dead excitement for this game. Still looking forward to FFXIV 2.0, but until then and even if it fails; I think MoP will deliver.

See you in Pandaria!

World PvP and leveling brings back memories of Hellfire Peninsula and Vashj'ir. Complete cluster@#%^ for the first couple of weeks. Literally could not finish a single quest there because I got jumped by gangs of enemy players.

There, fixed. The reason Cataclysm has sucked harder than the vacuum of deep space is because Blizzard moved their A-Team developers to the Titan project. The remaining B-Team, which apparently consists of people who have never played the game, then had to split their time between providing more content for the active subscribers and create an easter egg of unprecedented proportions. Since the latter is more funztiems, we ended up with an acute lack of stuff to do. Good times.

And I know that Blizzard's official statement is that no one left the development team except for the code monkeys, but anyone who's played the game for the last couple of expansions knows that something happened between late Wrath and Cataclysm launch. The developers didn't listen to the beta feedback, didn't manage to complete the major revamp of the combat system (triage healing), leaving it in a severe state of retardation (healed like in Vanilla, took damage like in Wrath).

And then came the class balancing, or lack thereof. Frost Mages were given a hilarious amount of roots/stuns and Feral Druids, the previous hard (and only) counter to Frost Mages, had their root-breaking removed - after seven years of that functionality being in the game. I've seen 10-year-olds do better math than that.

The entire expansion seemed like it was developed by a bunch of developers who either didn't know sh*t about the game, or didn't give a sh*t about the game. Still haven't figured out which it is.

And while I thoroughly enjoyed the talent revamp on my Warlock, it felt like a kick to the groin on many of my other classes. My Druid now has to choose between previous core abilities and several old-time abilities have been renamed for no apparent reason (Bash > Mighty Bash). And Feral Druids, after seven, or eight, years in the game, are now split into Ferals and Guardians. I don't dislike the playstyle of Guardian and Feral, but the division of the spec is retarded - especially since a lot of abilities are missing from both forms depending on your spec (Bear is useless for Ferals, Cat is useless for Guardians).

I don't care about Pet Battles and Farm... thingy. They can put as many pop culture references in the game as they want, in my opinion, as long as I am not forced to use them. It's just not enough for me to continue playing this mess. I don't mind the stuff, it's just not enough to get me back into it.

Have fun in Pandaria!

Edit: Sorry if this comes off as another "oh Maz, ranting about them Druids again" post, but it is my main class and this last content patch broke it. Not that I can't still tank or deal damage, but they removed so many things from each form that the versatility is gone. There's no reason to shapeshifting anymore, which sort of breaks the class in a horrible way.

I'm sure all the non-Rogues you'll encounter feel exact the same way.

I play on a server where Alliance is outnumbered around 5 or 6 to 1. I don't think leveling will be much fun. If I understood correctly CRZs only come into play if there are not enough players in a given zone. Since there will be many many Horde-players in every zone the CRZ-mechanic will most likely change nothing about this imbalance.

I am actually quite thrilled about many things that come with MoP. But there are more than a few things that sting.

They still have no solution for dead servers/factions. What gives? The issue is not exactly new. CRZs don't even touch upon the two main problems that are created when there aren't enough players (those two being recruiting problems for guilds and a dead economy). Rift has merged servers as did the new Star Wars MMO (from what I've heard). Why are the people @Blizzard unwilling to do something similar? There are complaints about dead servers since, oh I don't know, the end of BC maybe?
The gold nerf takes a huge portion of my personal fun out of the game. The removal of headenchants instead of moving them to a profession or just lower the reputation requirements was not really necessary. And so on.

When my annual pass runs out I will most likely be gone.
If the GW2 developers change their stance on PvE endgame and the equipment-grind-endgame that would be the perfect game for me.

Star Wars didn't just merge servers, they collapsed them. They went from over 100 active servers down to I think 12. Starting the game with 100 servers may have been a little bit of wishful thinking, but at least they acted when they realized a lot of their playerbase was playing on dead servers. I also like how they did the server merge. It started out as voluntary and free, but if you chose to do it, you got a free pet and some Commendations (similar to JP in WoW). It wasn't enough to even buy 1 piece of gear, and it wasn't even BiS gear, but they gave it to you. Later, when most people had taken the voluntary transfers, the remaining characters were migrated and the servers were closed.

I hope MoP delivers, too. I quit WoW for 10 months after Cataclysm. Just looking at that CE edition of FFXIV sitting on my shelf has me thinking about the 2.0 re-release. If all else fails, I might spend $20 on FFXI and go home for a bit.

Figures. I was waiting for it to go F2P before transferring so I could make sure there wasn't anything sitting in the mailbox of my lapsed account.

Ok Maz, I was there for all of that. It just didn't bother me and I enjoyed most of my time playing anyway. When it got boring, I only played a few times per month. I hate what they've done with Hunter in 5.0 which is my main PvE class. They added more abilities for me to use on cool down but nerfed my signature shot. "Here's more sh*t to do and the same DPS". I know this may come off as odd to people, but I don't like having a sh*tload of key binds and cool downs to monitor for PvE. I don't mind on my Rogue for PvP because they are situational and fun.

Anyway, I'm sorry you hate the game now. Really, there is nothing else decent to play. I've tried almost every single MMO since FFXI and WoW is the only other title that holds my interest for more than 3 days. What they did with druid blows, but unfortunately it was the player base that asked for a 4th spec :/

2.0 looks and sounds great. I really do hope it can finally take me out of Azeroth. I recently re-upped for FFXI last month to play with an old friend and I didn't even make it a week. I love that game dearly for what it was, but the leech to 99 and pop mini bosses endgame has ruined it for me (Though I'm happy that a lot of veterans welcomed the change and enjoy it.) I've decided to finally let my memories in Vana'diel rest and remember it for what it was pre-wotg and definitely pre-abyssea.

*sorry I could have combined those posts in to one but I wasn't thinking. Too late now.

I don't hate it, I'm just not excited for the expansion.

They should know better than to listen to the player base.

Wait... Smiley: lol

Sod negativity, I'm hyped for the expansion. If it turns a ****, well, I'll pass, but no point being negative about it before you try it out. Can't wait.

MoP needs to perform. Q1 will be pretty interesting once the post Xpac bliss wears off.

This expac needs to be slightly above average and it will be fine. However Blizzard has killed a lot of good will with Cata and a sub par D3 release. Also a majority of the MoP content was polarizing to the player base. Though it 'mists of panders' to the asian market where they are bleeding subs.

Yeah D3 actually pushed a couple of my friends and longtime Blizzard fans to cancel all their subs and vow to never purchase another Blizz game again. So far it's been a few months and none of them have showed even a spark of interest. It really is a bummer. I don't think it's because WoW won't get better or that D3 isn't salvageable, it's more based on the principal of Blizzard's direction and letting down their fans for money. I personally don't really care as long as I'm enjoying myself, but I can see where they're coming from.
