Tuesday MoP launch and VPsFollow

Hi all. I have a question here I'm hoping anyone of you can answer me.

So, MoP is launching next Tuesday, pretty standard thing giving them Wednesday patch day to iron things out etc etc. I was wondering if anyone knew if queuing up for random MoP normal instances would award VPs or JPs. If there's a way to make any VPs before the Wednesday weekly reset in essence, without being at level cap, which I of course won't be at the day MoP releases.

I haven't played in a couple of weeks but I thought they already changed all VPs to JPs. So that means dungeons should be rewarding only JPs now.

Don't non-heroics always reward JP, or did they change this? And then heroics and raids reward VP.

Non-heroics have always awarded JP, not VP and they still will in MoP. There's a good explanation of how JP/VP and Honor/Conquest will work in MoP here.

Yes it has always been like that but I could have sworn they already made the change by removing VPs from the game completely for their pre-expac patch.

They did. But the key there is "pre-expac patch". LGarth is asking about after Tuesday, meaning once MoP has gone live, and as stated in the post I linked, Valor will be back then. But will only be awarded for "Daily quests, random Scenarios, random Heroic dungeons, and all levels of raiding." So normal MoP instances will still give JP, not VP.

Lol thanks for the explanation. That's all I was asking. I hadn't been able to check out the link due to issues with my Internet (been using my phone) which makes me laugh with the down votes lol. Thanks again for the explanation Tellaria! Now it all makes sense! =)

Thanks for clarification. Basically no way to make VPs before reset. Damn, I thought I could be clever about this XD

Going to hijack this thread because I got a good story and this is tecnically about the launch.

I went to Walmart about 15 min early, figured I would get a good place in line if there happened to be in one. I saw a couple guys standing around once I got there. Figuring they were waiting for MoP I sat around and waited, letting my mind wander. Midnight rolled around and I saw a group of people standing around some employees stocking some various cases. So I got up and decided to pick up my copy. They asked if I wanted a copy of Avengers (at least that's what I think it was) I told them that I was after Mists of Pandaria,. After repeating myself and some questions tossed between them as to where the game is at they gave me a copy. Then one of the employees said, and I quote, "You don't want that". "Yes I do." I told him, slightly irritated. As I was walking away I heard him say "Boo!". I turned around with a grin on my face and said "Haters gonna hate". He quickly dropped his stupid grin on his face and replaced it a real dopy, clueless look. I swear people sometimes... Smiley: oyvey

So you went to a store were employees make fun of paying customers? If that was my business they'd be fired and possibly sued if I could find a way...

I was completely surprised when the goober said what he did. Suing though because he voiced his opinion? Smiley: dubious People sue for some of the most rediculous things already, why would I sue because he voiced his opinion? Also I hijack threads, it's what I do yo. *awkward hand movement to look hip*

I'm pretty sure his job description goes along the lines of "Help customers buy goods". With this attitute and comments he was going in exactly the opposite direction. Thus he would be in a way interfering with sales. Don't know, but I'm pretty sure a good lawyer can make a case out of this.

A good lawyer would tell you not to abuse the judicial system like that. A bad one would try to make a case out of something so trivial. If I really wanted to be a **** I would have gotten his name and went to the head manager at Walmart. Get the ****** fired. But I am not petty like that.

Americans. Smiley: rolleyes

That would be considered friendly banter here. Hell, when I go to buy a game or movie, the clerk sometimes tells me if it's a good or bad game/movie. In his opinion, of course, which he's entitled to. I doubt you'd ever be able to make a case out of someone giving his opinion on a matter. Company would chalk it up as "guiding the customer" and they'd probably settle it internally by reprimanding the guy.

When I worked in retail, I'd often tell customers to grab an extra apple or pack of crackers or whatever and cash in the discount. Company technically lost money on it (assuming they could sell everything in stock), but customer service is valued higher than selling off as much crap as possible. Same applied when I sold fireworks one winter. I was directly told not to sell too much crap to the customers, even going so far as to suggest they don't buy certain products. People left with quality products and as such were more likely to return.

Sure, if he's telling you not to buy it and not offering an alternative or explanation, he's probably overstepping some lines, but hardly anything worth suing anyone over. After all, he did sell him the game without too much of a hassle.

Socializing 101 #3: "Haters gonna hate." Followed closely by #4: "Don't feed the trolls."

For those wondering, #1 is "People are stupid" and #2 "Don't argue with idiots"

No, that's pretty much the definition of frivolous litigation.

Pretty sure I told this story before, but when I worked at Borders, I used to talk to the teen customers about games etc. This one girl was really curious about WoW, so I explained some of it, didn't think anything of it.
A few days later, her mother (this short little gnome woman who bought erotic romances by the case full) got into my face, really steamed. "Do you DENY there are demons in that game!?"
Wherever you are, there are gonna be stupid people.

When I used to answer phones for Apple, people used to get offended/pissed off when Apple wouldn't replace their **** for free when they spilled coffee on it/dropped it/ran over it with a car.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I BROKE IT SO I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT?! THIS IS ***************

Literally what a guy yelled at me. I facepalmed so hard.

Smiley: lol Oh boy, that brings back memories.

I'm technically a Catholic, which is a religious minority in Denmark, so I get this monthly, or quarterly, newspaper from the Church. Anyway, some years back, when Harry Potter was the hottest thing since sliced bread, some woman wrote a letter to the Church, which got published in the paper, about how the Harry Potter franchise was the Devil's work because the characters in it performed magic - or witchcraft as she called it - and were friends with gnomes and stuff. Oh and the headmaster was gay and therefore obviously a pedophile. DEVIL!

I wrote a somewhat lengthy reply which got published because I was, what, 13 or 14 at the time, giving a child's impression of the franchise from a religious and an entertainment point of view. I received about a dozen hate-mails in the following month. People were accusing me of being the Devil's spawn, saying that I would burn in righteous fire for all eternity because I was a "disciple of the Devil" and that my children would carry the Devil's seed and all kinds of ridiculous things. It was actually quite funny.

Some people... Smiley: rolleyes

I'm not American Mazra, but as I do run my own company and I treat my employees fairly (pay way over market rates). The idea of an employee making fun of a paying customer though .... well ... it makes my blood boil.

I'll definitely agree that it's a fine line to walk when it comes to teasing the customers. You have to be absolutely sure the customer doesn't confuse your friendly banter with serious business. I mean, it's nothing that can't be solved with a quick apology and explanation, but it shouldn't have to come to that.

I usually prevent misunderstandings by laughing heartily while teasing. That way my sarcasm doesn't come off as malicious, unless the customer has a serious issue with reading body language and socializing in general.

About you being the Devil's spawn, of course. I mean, who else could drink the vast amounts of alcohol you do and still be alive but the son of a fallen angel.
