Yeah, I'll roll a monkFollow

A Monk, MON. I'll go troll monk, no doubt about it. Pandas fit the bill perfectly, of course, but I also see trolls as fitting the monk bill like a charm. Just like dwarves IMO are perfect for monks. Draenei too, Can they be monks?

I've been debating which class to roll as Panda, the racials are sick by the way, and I'm probably going to go with rogue, mostly because I don't have one. Ideally, I'd convert my Tauren warrior to a Panda, but I just can't see it in me to spend any amount of money, on an alt I don't play. Ever. Sitting at 80 fiddling his thumbs waiting for his turn, which hasn't come this expansion and I doubt will come early in MoP. We'll see I guess, eventually I'll probably bite I guess. I'm curious about the Pandaren starting area. I found the goblin starting quests and area almost annoying to be honest, and that was the reason I was HAPPY to delete him when I moved servers again a few weeks back, at level 13 or so. It probably had to do with the fact that I was questing alone, nobody was around when I was leveling him in august (not many people re-rolling another goblin that late I guess), and I hate the feeling of being 100% on my own in an MMO.

Anyhow, Everyone else going monk bear?

I haven't decided. I'm leaning toward a bear shammy, only because shammy is the one class I haven't played yet. The whole "tied into nature" thing seems to fit the Pandaren well, so it's a logical fit for me.

As for rolling a bear rogue, well - I don't think I've ever seen a fat thief ;)

Monk-wise, a Drae would make perfect sense. They've been around the Naaru for a long time, so inner peace, etc, sounds about right for them.

I think I'd roll a panda rogue with the sole purpose of seeing his moves in stealth. That will be a total win, imo.

What's this, I don't even...

Let's get something straight here: Bear is shorthand for a Druid tank. If you want a shorthand for Pandaren, use Panda or something. Bear is taken. Monk Bear, Bear Shammy and Bear Rogue... not happening. No. Hell no!

I'll definitely be rolling a monk, I played one a bit on beta and it was a ton of fun. I can't decide if I want to go Pandaren or Draenei though. All my toons (except my druid) are either Human or Draenei females, so I can't make up my mind if I want to stick with the "theme" or go for a bit of variety. And yeah, I'm weird.

I'd be more inclined to make my monk a non-Panda if each race had distinctinve fighting styles. It would have been totally awesome if Troll monks used capoeria (sp?) style animations. Pandas could obviously use animations from various Eastern martial arts. I'm kind of at a loss as to the other 11 races, but you get the idea.

Since that isn't happening, my monk will be a Panda and me Panda will be a monk.

Just race changed my beta Monk from Pandaren to Draenei to check out the animations and imo, the Draenei look ridiculous. I love Draenei, but the monk animations just don't look good with them. Going to check out the Human next, but I think my monk will end up being a panda.

I'll be going Pandaren Monk. I might be a Tank again and quest through the starting zone and then Dungeon run to level (like I did on my Warrior). Yea... tanking again...

Hmm my female Pandaren will probably be a monk first. I was considering rolling a warrior and possibly a rogue but I am not sold on that yet. Those are the two classes I have yet to level to max (rogue at 80 and warrior mid 40s are my highest). Probably will go with monk though first just because there just won't be enough of them running around. Smiley: tongue

This.

I go to o-boards now and then, and it is bad enough that I have to put up with that retarded argument there, I sure don't want to see it here...

"OMG, MoP = KUNG FU PANDA AND POKEMON!!!"

*rolls eyes*

Like I always say...

1). Pandaren existed in WoW-verse way before KFP was ever thought up (WC3: TFT IIRC)
2). WoW is hardly the first MMORPG to see something like Pet Battles (check out the Coliseum in FFXI).
3). Don't like it, don't do it/roll a panda.

Anyways.... back on topic...

I plan on rolling a Horde and an Alliance Pandaren Monk; mom has 2 Alliance character slots and 1 Horde so she'll be doing the same, 'cept she's also gonna roll a pandaren Shaman (its the only class she doesn't have one of yet).

^^So much this. There are constructive ways to express your dislike for something without just regurgitating the crap spewed all over the O-boards. Lyrailis said it best: Don't like it, don't do it/roll a panda. Last I checked, there was no for Blizzard to force you to buy the expansion or continue to pay your monthly subscription. I don't even find the pandaren all that "cutesy" (except for Li Li, and she's annoying as hell), so I'm not sure where all the Kung Fu Panda/Disneycraft garbage is coming from.

And to keep this more on topic: I spent some time at a target dummy, zoomed in close with a Draenei, Human and Pandaren Monk today (all female). The Pandaren's animations looked the most "natural", with the Human coming in at a close second. Draeneis look kind of silly when they kick or spin. So I think I will definitely be rolling Pandaren Monk, but waiting for awhile so the starting zone isn't packed.

Troll monk, and of course he'll be a tank. Though I have to say I'm much intrigued by monk healing.

I wouldn't mind race-changing my mage to panda, but then I'd want to race-change my undead warlock to BE too, and I'd have to level her to 90 as currently she's my banker. If I did that, I'd probably not make a fat thief, hmmmmmm. I could just end up doing the ridiculous thing and race-change my non-used warrior tauren alt.

Still a ways off down the line anyhow, got many things to do before considering any other toon.

Fat thieves rule.

Not to mention the "Lone Wolf and Cub" inspired concept art, which seriously indicates that at least someone at Blizzard Gets It (tm) with regard to cuteness. Anthropomorphic animals in animation can be twee when the product is aimed at kids - but there's a long tradition going back to Usagi Yojimbo, Cerebus the Aardvark, and even further - that says they can be vicious too. Sometimes in the same issue.

Mousing over his name and clicking "ignore" works beautifully too. Not like anything constructive will be missed.

Those pandas probably don't fit in with all those original races Blizzard invented, like Orcs, Trolls, Elves, and Dwarves anyway.

Way to spoil it for me! Smiley: wink Oh well, hopefully more people will make use of the ignore feature and then we won't have to worry about quotes.

I still like Wow pretty well. I've played since mid-Vanilla or so and my account has been active the entire time. (I used to have a different Zam account, but I lost the password or something and started this one some time ago.)

It's not that I'm totally negative about the game or anything. It's just that I personally am not really into "cuteness". I started as Horde because I wanted nothing to do with gnomes and other cute things. I was disappointed that Horde got the more Disney-looking Blood Elves instead of Dranei. I was VERY disappointed when we got Goblins instead of the very cool Worgen. And now I will be in groups with cutesy panda bears.

I apologize if my comments seem overly negative. I've already paid for the expansion and am looking forward to checking out the new areas, new dungeons, leveling to 90, eventually starting a monk (undead or whatever) and so forth.

I'm just not interested in "cute".
