What role should a Mage choose In a dungeon?Follow

#1 May 25 2012 at 2:02 PM Rating: Default
My apologies everyone for being AFK and inactive in the forums, i sort of got addicted when I bought skyrim.

But now I'm back for good this time, I swear i won't be AFK anymore.

Anyways I haven't played world of warcraft for awhile, so I need a question answered...

What role do I choose for a Mage in dungeons?

Because some people yelled at me when I started wow for looting this item in a dungeon when I was a tanker.

And I just started so I didn't know that tankers are the ones who take damage.

So if anyone coul answer my question, thank you :)

As long as It has a lollipop and a teddy bear for me to hump once in awhile,

That's fine for me.

Tis their plan last I heard. I can't remember how far they intend to expand the system, but yeah, there are times you won't be rolling against others so much, and even then, they've restricted what you can roll on.

Smiley: facepalm Really? Are you seriously that stupid that you don't know what role a mage provides in a dungeon? It'd be one thing if you were asking that about a druid. I could just pat you on the head and be all "Oh, he's just a newbie." In what world do you live in that a mage has ever tanked or healed for a group in any game ever?

I know we're supposed to be nice and all, but I seriously don't have patience for this level of stupid.

Let me guess, during the council fight in BT? I actually had forgotten about that when I wrote that post, because I was so astounded. =x

Still though, the dungeon finder locks you into the damage role, because DUH that's the only role mages perform now, and in 99.6% of all cases.

The Mage class in Rift is capable of speccing into healing role (Chloromancer is the main healing soul).

Pretty sure he said in OoT that he's around 13 or so. I seem to recall a while back he was asking about "what courses should I take in 9th grade?"

Mages can only roll need on cloth, as that's all they wear. What folks get **** about is you rolling on g'ear with 'spirit' on it which mages do not need.

Only exception is if it's a huuuge upgrade, which you'll have to explain to your group when they jump on your case about it.

If it's an ilvl increase on a weapon, spirit or not it's almost certainly a signficant dps bufff. Increased int and spell power will almost certainly destroy any losses in the secondary stat department, with the only exception being if you drop below a haste cap.

If you are jumping 2 ilvl tiers on gear, it may be a decent dps buff. I'm not willing to check the stat weights. If it's 3 tiers, it is definitely a significant stat increase. This is assuming you're in full purple.

Basically, 26 ilvls is probably sufficient for the "better upgrade" argument to no longer really apply, as long as we are talking about the same quality gear.

Homework. The posting name contains an obvious clue -- "Home". Just like in Homeland Security.
